1 month out - feels like day 5 again...

It sounds like you are getting all the right care to facilitate healing...I hope everything settles down for you soon and your nausea subsides. Luckily you called your doctor early and got this taken care of before it was worse.

Thanks for all your support everyone - it's much appreciated. I didn't make it more than another week past my last post before I started to get a fever again. I called the doctor and was put back into hospital (again!) that night. The next day they removed the stent *relief* and I immediately felt 100% better. My body wanted it out so much, it was such an unnatural feeling. Then I had another bariam swallow and they couldn't see any sign of a leak so I was released pretty quickly after that.

Went back on to fluids and now mushies and I'll see the doctor next week. If I have any advice to anyone post-surgery it's that if you feel nauseated or feverish or put off your food - DO NOT HESITATE to see your doctor.

Very wise advice. Glad you're feeling a bit better and best wishes for a speedy recovery. We all know that this surgery is not without risks but it still surprises some of us when there actually are complications. Being alert to fevers and unusual aches or pains is VERY important!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
