not turning out well just yet

I was so excited to have a roux n y surgery, I think I danced my way into the surgery room. I was happy , not nervous, just so excited to start my new life. Kissed my loved ones and said , see you later. Little did I know , later was going to be much different then i thought. When I finally did wake up from my surgery I was still in recovery and not in my own room , like they had promised. They were taking the thing out of my throat, and telling me to wake up, wake up.

Now I was under the impression , they had told me, that , when I awoke I would be in my room , and my loved ones would be there with me.

Instead , they untied my wrists, kept telling me to wake up, because I had to go home. Mind you , it is not easy to wake up from a deep anesthetic, all that fast. and in fact took me six hours to get my oxygen levels up high enough for them to release me.

When I had the chance , I took a peek down my gown and yup there were my prize holes from the laproscopic tools, so what was going on?

The nurse happened to see me looking down my gown and put her face close to mine and said, " you didn't have the operation, the doctor couldn't do it, you have a scarred liver" WHAT WHAT

ok, it's been a month now , no surgery, no new life, no Jello, no Protein, no nothing. Except in two days I will have my second appointment with my liver specialist, who is so concerned about my liver, as well as I , but frankly, i want my surgery. I know I have to have a good liver , and I have been on pins and needles about it, but in the end , if the truth be told, just give me my surgery. :cursing:) please

I am an older girl, and it had taken me ten years to make up my mind to do this , and what did I get, well, probably a blessing. I do thank God in the end of this partial journey for leading me to this , otherwise, If the time came that it showed up in my blood tests, I would probably be at transplant stage, so this is certainly a blessing.

I do count my blessings and I read solmewhere if the lord brings you to it, he'll bring you through it. I like that.

I will add an update, soon.

Kirasoma, first off, welcome to the forums. I am so sorry about what has happened to you. I can't imagine the disappointment you must have felt when you woke up and discovered you did not have the surgery. Then, the anxiety that followed from concern over your liver.

I know you are anxious to have the surgery and start the weight loss process. However, you need to take care of your liver first. It is important that you are in good health. Please keep us posted on what you and the doctors find out. We are all here and pulling for you! :cursing:

OMG! That is horrible. . .I can see that happening with me! I love my rum and cokes and have for many many many years. . .I can see the doc saying "sorry your liver sucks, it one big Appleton Rum company" :drool5: I don't drink in access but every Friday and Saturday I have a really good drink or two. . . never to drunken stage though. . . that I used to do when I was a teenager. . . yuk now it turns my stomach. . . hopefully all will go well with your liver doctor and you'll be ok to get your surgery. . . nothing is worse then going through the motions and then in a dizzy state of anesthesia be told "you didn't have the surgery" . . . gosh. . . I hope they didn't charge you for it. . . .bless your heart! Keep us informed

That is everyone's nightmare...how awful that you had to experience it. I hope things will improve for you and that you will eventually be able to reach your goal. Sounds like you are a positive thinker...keep that up. I believe that everything happens for a reason...SOMETHING good will come out of this!

Kirasoma,

Thank you for sharing your story, I am sure it was difficult to do so. I am sorry things turned out the way they did; however, I strongly believe that everything happens for a reason and that the timing obviously wasn't right - also, maybe you don't need the r-n-y and the sleeve is the right tool for you. I also believe that if God brings you to it, He will bring you through it.

Keep us posted on your progress and we will all be here pulling and praying for you.

The surgery didn't go through for a good reason, you might have not known your liver was in this condition. Take good care of your self now and keep your faith and trust in God.

I am shocked and amazed that anyone would really care about my story, and so humbled . Thank you all for your encouragement and prayers. I have some support from my family, but they do not really understand. I believe you all do, so it means a lot to me, more than you will ever know.

i guess this means that you have all adopted me now :crying:) and I will certainly let you know what the next adventure will be. That is tomorrow , dun dun dun the liver dr, and the results dun dun dun.

I do believe there is a reason for it all and I accept whatever God has in store of me, doesn't mean I have to like it hehe.

Soon soon , just a matter of hours now, and honestly I am hoping for good results, and clearance. :001_tongue:

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
