Greetings to you from Texas........

I am 7 weeks out.....had my surgery in Dallas after a year's research. So far, I have had no problems at all.......have lost 45 lb in past 7 months (about half of it since wls).

I am active on bariatriceating.com but am happy to find another website. I think it's important to keep learning and to get motivation and inspiration from fellow bandsters. And if I can be of help to others as we go thru this journey, I'm happy to do that, too.

I'm 61 years old and had become just about useless in the past 3 years. I am already much improved and much happier than I've been in a while.

Welcome Gayle. So glad to hear your surgery went well and you've had a great loss so far!! I live in McKinney. Who was your surgeon?

Hi, Leatha......Dr. Benavides on BeltLine did my surgery...but BCBS required me to go to Decatur to have it done over there for some reason (he works there every Monday). Very good experience.

I use Dr. Maese for my caridologist and he did all my pre-op testing and does my fills (in Highland Park).

I live near Bonham, our son/wife live near McKinney, his wife teaches in Stonebridge. McKinney is a different world than it was 5 years ago!! Mushroom growth!

Best wishes on your surgery. Hope it's as good an experience as mine was.....I never even had so much as a gas pain!!

Welcome to LBT, Gayle. We're in Texas, too. Just a little south of Corsicana. My wife is the banded one and I'm the support team/food police....lol You should come to Dallas for one of our lunches. Many happy losses.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
