i got the sleeve done on july 20th... i just feel alone. my whole family is obese so i got this done to help me too lose the weight before something goes wrong. im now on soft foods and i havent really lost weight. did i do something wrong?? i mean i never feel hungery and i tend to forget that i should eat but i do eat at least a meal a day. my parents are freaking out cause they dont think im putting all my effort in to loosing. and it hurts to hear them say that. thats why i feel alone. i cant play volleyball anymore or at least this year and that kills me cause i love playing. but the advice i really need is should i keep going? i try to walk three miles a day. is that good or should i do more? what food should i eat? what kind of food is better for me?

please help asap:crying:

Why can't you play volley ball? SOme people do not start loosing till they start eating regular foods, others loose a ton. Some people loose it fast others loose it slowly. All seem to stall for a while.

The things I always tell people to check...... (and I need to recommitt to!)

1) are you gettingin all your Protein ?

2) are you drinking enough Water / liquids?

3) is your Fiber enough? (I have to take the special K Fiber water.....it has 40 % and that always makes it go better for me)

4) are you getting 20-30 minutes of exercise at least three times a week?

remember that stalls are normal and physics says eventually you will start to loose.......less in and more energy out means it will come off....just sometimes very slowly! (and we all hate that!)

I wish you the best of luck and try to begin your knew life with the positive attitude, that your family is negative.....try to ignore that and go on and live your life!

DO NOT QUIT - DO NOT GIVE UP- Your body is in shock from the surgery and needs time to adjust. Get in your Protein and your fluids. Walk and do easy exercises as much as you possibly can. THINK POSITIVE and don't stress about it -- stress is not good for weight loss.

YOU CAN DO THIS -YOU WILL DO THIS ... don't let your family's negativity affect you in a negative way - show all of them they are WRONG! If you're giving it a 100% - then give it 110%.

Also Joanie -- you MUST eat at least 3 meals a day - whether you are hungry or not - EAT - eat lots of Protein - 70-80 gms a day and get in as much Fluid as you can - at least 64 oz. a day. Try to keep your carbs below 30 gms. a day - eat lots of fish if you like it ... try Protein Shakes -- I bet once you start eating on a regular basis and your body doesn't think you're starving it - you'll start dropping the weight. Read other posts on this forum and do what research you need to do to find out how to eat after WLS.

Be sure to track all your food too. If you are drinking a lot of your calories, you could be consuming more than you think. If you track, then you know exactly what you are eating and if you are in a calorie deficit. If you are in a calorie deficit, then it doesn't matter what the scale does temporarily -- the weight will come off and the scale will eventually show it.

It's not even a month since you had your surgery! Don't be so hard on yourself!

The doctor that most of went to recommends at least 60 grams of Protein per day and about 800 calories.

Good sources of Protein are cottage cheese, and eggs if you can stand them. Some people have trouble with eggs but in the beginning, I mixed hard boiled chopped up eggs with low fat mayo or miracle whip and a little bit of mustard. I also ate tuna salad and chicken salad. I am not sure what food stage you are supposed to be on.

Are you drinking Protein drinks? That's the easiest way to get a good shot at protein. Did your doctor put you on a post op diet?

Hi Joanie! I have not had surgery yet but like others said, don't be so hard on yourself! Also it is possible to consume too few calories which just makes your metabolism slower, esp if you are not getting exercise.

Hang in there!

My favorite Protein drink is choc. peaunut butter that you have to order online from Netrition.com - The Internet's Premier Nutrition Superstore!

Ask Mack to list the websites for the sample packages. That way you can try a few and not have to buy a lot. I am not sure where she put that thread. I have heard from others that the brand she likes called Chike is good. I am not sure where she gets that either.

I was allowed the chicken, tuna and egg salad on soft foods. Just make sure it's chopped up very finely and take tiny bites. I could only eat about 3 bites in the beginning. I would think soft turkey breat deli meat would be okay as it's very soft. Again, tiny bites and chew it up til there is nothing left to chew.

You can get samples at:

Vitalady.com

ChikeNutrition.com

Syntrax SYNTRAX SPECIALS

I think there are other places that sell samples, but I haven't used them (or don't rememer).

When you order from Nashua Nutrition and your order is over a certain $ amount, they will throw in 3 samples, but only from a certain list. It can be fun, but it's not a convenient way to get samples. :D

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
