Strange restriction/Question

Recommended Posts

I have had perfect restriction since my second fill. I have been able to eat 2 meals and consume right at 1,000 calaries a day as long as I make good food choices which I am happy to say I have been.

Yesterday morning, I went and had a 1 hour massage (it was wonderful), came home soaked in the tub, and then fixed my lunch. Unfortunantly, I PB'd after the second bite, so of course that ended that meal. I tried again last night and the same thing happened. I haven't tried anything yet today but I will in an hour or two. I cannot figure out what happened. I have to leave town for work again tomorrow and I want my perfect restriction back.

I never have any problems with restriction. Flying doesn't effect me, and I don't see any change during my time each month.

Any ideas as to what happened?

Sounds like esophageal agitation at this point. Hopefully, that is all and you'll be back to normal after a day or two of liquids only? Are you able to drink liquids okay?

sometimes fills 'kick in' or get tighter AFTER THE FACT...sometimes 2-3 weeks later. my last fill tightened up on me 2 weeks AFTER i got it. i have *worked* with it but i am scheduling an unfill ASAP! just a little one!

good luck. i would go on Soups, shakes and mushies while your out of town to prevent any more PB's then when you get home, test the waters with real food again!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
