It is not head hunger. Because when I do have something a little thicker like pudding or yogurt I am full. But just having the Clear Liquids leave me shaky and with a headache.(No, I am not diabetic) I am not going to risk my health by moving ahead too soon but I can't be the only person to be feeling this. What are other people eating/drinking that is acceptable 10 days out? Am I that much of a wimp to complain about this? I am looking forward to starting the high Protein smoothies, that will be a treat. But I overheard the nurse practioner telling someone to add an extra scoop of Protein Powder but be sure to leave out the turbinado. Why leave out the turbinado?

My doctor put me on Full liquids after day two, this included yogurt, sugar free pudding, cottage cheese, cream of wheat Cereal, milk, thick Soups. The yogurt and pudding really helped at those times I was really hungry. Listen to your body, you will know when to stop eating. Now at two weeks I can progress to pureed foods. He told me to go slow when I start transitioning to 'real' food and to be careful with meat. When I saw him yesterday and he said I was doing great. I only have 30 more pounds to lose. My next visit is in six weeks.

What's turbinado?

I think at least some of the hunger is real too because one of our hunger mechanisms is when our stomach expands in response to being full and you don't get that on a liquid diet.

Turbinado sugar - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Turbinado sugar, also known as turbinated sugar, is made from sugar cane extract. It is produced by crushing freshly cut sugar cane; the juice obtained is evaporated by heat, then crystallized. The crystals are spun in a centrifuge, or turbine (thus the name), to remove excess moisture, resulting in the characteristic large, light brown crystals.

Now I see why she said leave off the turbinado. Who needs the extra calories? I already hungry enough without drinking the calories away.

Sounds like a blood sugar issue.

We are used to eating a lot of carbs and our bodies are used to pumping out a lot of insulin. When you suddenly stop the carbs your blood sugar can go a little low.

Also, if you consume sugar now, such as in juice... that makes your pancreas kick out insulin and sometimes a bit too much insulin. So you get blood sugar spikes and that is another way your body tells you that you are hungry. It's not just Ghrelin. Stop all juice, or anything with sugar. When you get the shaky feeling and headache try drinking Propel Water. It just has a tiny pinch of sugar. Enough to bring up your low blood sugar but not enough to cause the high spikes. That and protein should kill your hunger.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
