Today I started my pre-op diet for surgery with Dr Aceves next Friday. I worked last night, and I'm not much of a cook, but I decided to make some bacon and eggs for Breakfast. It smelled sooooooo good, my 24 year old son woke up and had breakfast with me at 6AM!!! Hmmmmm....unexpected benefit?!:biggrin0:

Well wasn't that a pleasant surprise ... I don't know if even the smell of eggs and bacon would have been enough to get either of my boys out of bed!

Good luck on your diet. I started mine today too. Are you going by yourself? Judy

That is great! My son will usually get up early, but nothing gets my daughter up before noon on weekends. I swear, she sleeps half her life away.

Ernesto is a pretty cool guy, but his driving scared the bejeebers out of me!! Concentrate on the beautiful scenery along the way, lol.

Yes, I am going alone. My son is taking me to where I will be picked up by Ernesto, at the long term parking lot just this side of the border. You?

It's not too bad if you're being picked up in Calexico -- the hospital is very near the border so you're really not in the van very long -- and the trip from the hospital to the resort is only 2 miles. Now, can't speak of the trip from San Diego, as we were picked up at the AA Parking lot in Caleixco. Parking was only $3/day and it is gated with a guard 24/7 which was a comfort.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
