Golden oppurtunity

Recommended Posts

Just wondering I read a book about lap band and it said the first year is prime for losing weight then it decreases I have been banded for almost a year and not lost all the weight I want to know do I still have another year left I am hopeing so please let me know what you have read and heard scared I want to lose another 50 or so pounds. I made the mistake of not getting a fill for like three months but it turned out I wasn't as tight as I thought because I only lost like 5 pounds for that three months and that was valuable time live and learn. I'm greedy I guess I am glad I lost what I did but I want to finally be at a (normal) weight for height and not always have to think about it let me know what you think thanks.

You have plenty of time. Forever in fact. They're commenting on the motivation to continue folowing a diet diminishing.

You're fine as long as you remain motivated.

The RnY is the one where weight loss slows way down or stops after about a year.

I agree with Donna. The only thing I can see slowing your loss other than motivation, is that it's almost always the hardest to lose the last 20 lbs or so. :)

Yeah, I'd say that's more a statistical observation based on people's motivation and commitment.

Plus you do just naturally lose more weight quickly at first.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
