Head hunger is a crazy thing.

I actually forgot to eat today. I was taking care of my grandson because my DD worked graveyard last night and needed to sleep. He was here all day and is a very busy toddler. I took him home at 5:00 and fed him his baby food and that was when I remembered that I was so busy with him all day, that I forgot to eat. Now that, is a first!

It is sort of wierd that we can be so different. You are barely able to eat and I can eat just fine,I worry that I can eat too much and hope that changes with solid foods. I am glad you are getting Dr Aceves to check that out for you when you are there with Bob

Don't worry Ruthi. It's completely different when you eat soft/mushy food than when you eat solid Protein like beef or pork.

And I sit here wondering if I AM ever going to get to the stage of being able to eat solid food again.

I am the same though Susan! I can eat a couple small bites very slowly of mushies and I start hurting and know I can't eat anymore. So I sit here and wonder when things will get to the "normal" stage for after surgery. Meanwhile my sister is having it and my mother is seriously thinking of it, but I freak them both out with all the dehydration and not being able to get any real food down. Not that I have any problem swallowing, I just get full after a couple of bites! So I just keep plugging along hoping one day something will change and my body will start liking me again.

It makes me wonder how I can be so different. I know we went to the same surgeon, but I can eat quite a bit of mushy food. I can eat more than I think I would be able to, actually.

You were banded, you already learned how to eat and drink after WLS so it was easier for us. True WLS newbies have it harder.

Well I have to be honest here and say "THIS SUCKS" and I hope that I will not feel this way forever. I mean if I do, not much I can do about it; however, it wasn't what I was hoping for when I got the surgery -- sure, eating less that I expected -- but the feeling of constantly feeling sick or that something is stuck isn't much fun at all.

You have a lot of swelling.

When I was first sleeved I really did regret it because I burped like a man. It was embarrassing. Dr. Aceves said it was swelling and would go away, it did.

Will the swelling show on a GI? I am having one done on Friday while Bob is doing his pre-op tests? How long does the swelling last? It will be 4 weeks on 7/10. I too burb like a man and it's quite embarassing at times as sometimes there is no warning! Mostly it is at home, and although it's still embarrasing, generally it's only in front of Bob.

It's a terrible feeling and I sure hope it goes away and I can be like others that say they can't even tell they had surgery other than they can't eat as much.

I have the slimes/foaming under control at least.

That's a good question. How long can swelling possibly last?

I am asking because of my friend who can't eat at all. She can barely drink Water and she is a week behind me. I can easily drink a bottle of Water in nothing flat.

She can't eat anything? I weighed my food today when eating and I am taking in about 1/5 an ounce of mushies at a sitting...and of course not much water, like 25-30oz. I am really dehydrated and am excited to go to the clinic tomorrow. I am going to have some tests done to see if I have a stricture because I dont have a problem getting the food down, just get full after a few bites and if I eat anymore I get sick. I am sure I am still swollen, I think for something like this you stay swollen for a long time. However something needs to be done. I do not regret having the surgery though and look forward to being friends with my tummy again...I also know that Dr. Aceves and his staff are working with Susan and I trying to get to the bottom of everything. I think we are both hoping to be feeling better or at least know what is going on by the end of the week.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
