I decided to start using up my unflavored Protein Powder. I mixed a banana yoplait yogurt, soy slender and a scoop of unflavored Protein powder together in my magic bullet.

I have never had a Protein shake fill me up as much as this one did. I can't even drink my Water

cause I am so full and I drank that hours ago.

I thought the yogurt by itself would need some liquid. Next time I will use less soy slender.

Dr. Aceves told me to stick with 3 meals a day of solid Protein to get used to living as a sleeved person and discouraged Protein Shakes. I don't get in 60-70 grams of protein but I had blood work done today and all is good.

I like to drink a Protein drink for Breakfast. I don't like eggs or any of the Breakfast foods. It's way easier for me to drink a Protein Drink for breakfast and at least I know I am starting the day with 20 grams of Protein.

I think Dr. Aceves has his opinion but my band doctor who also does a lot of RNY's and is starting to do sleeves for people who are requesting a sleeve encourages people to drink at least one Protein Drink per day and I respect his opinion just as much as I respect Dr. Aceves.

My surgeon also suggests people use Protein Shakes so that they can be freer to try other things -- like veggies -- at meals. I have one pretty much every day for breakfast and he thinks that's great.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
