Hi, i have another weird question sorry. Do you have more frequent bowel movements after the sleeve or is it just about the same as before?

When you're on the post op diet, most people seem to get diarrhea until their diet progresses to soft foods.

Now that I am 2 months from surgery today, I don't go every day. I am surprised though that when I do go, it's still soft. I am glad because with the band, I was constipated all the time.

I never had diarrhea post-op. What are your concerns in asking this question?

I never had diarrhea post-op. What are your concerns in asking this question?

I did for about 2 days after I got home -- surgery was on Friday and diarrhea hit me Wed/Thurs. Haven't had any issues since. I don't go everyday; however when I do, it's soft but formed.

I remember my first week after surgery...OMG, I had at least 15 BM's a day....it was horrible. But that was from the liquids and IVs, etc... I was so glad when it ended..

Now, I go pretty much the way I used to, but Im more prone to Constipation, which was a huge difference.. before, i never got constipated..

So I have to really be careful..

I never had diarrhea post-op. What are your concerns in asking this question?

I asked because someone asked me and i didnt know. also, i wanted to know how to plan around it if i ended up with diarrhea. i have issues with public bathrooms "my sh*t is shy" and i was not sure if it affects bm's like bypasses do. working around that while living in a dorm would be hard. but it sounds like by the time i start school it will be normal or less frequent. thank you all sorry i ask a lot of questions i just like to prepare and plan for everything so i am ready. this site has been very helpful.

They told me liquids in liquids out when I was concerned

about it. It went away just like everyone said it would, once I moved to mushies.

We're not malabsorbing so we shouldn't have extra "stuff" coming out.

Mine are about the same except they tend towards a green color more easily.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
