New Friend/A little bit about my story

Recommended Posts

I had gastric bypass 30 years ago that went bad.I gained back the weight I was suppose to lose. With this surgery when they staple the stomach, back then.I was in the hospital for 2weeks.When I got release,I ask the doctor what can I get when I get home,He replied Anything you want.So my frav food was pork fried rice.It would not stay down,So it all game back up. And I gain my weight back. And time went on with diet after diets. There was one time. When my ex.Decided to end our relationship:001_smile: and went back to his old girl friend. My motivation, Was revenge I would lose this weight, and get back at him with slim me in sexy outfit. We got back togather.I did not get into that sexy nightie.I just go so interesed in eating from the toco truck and gained my weight back.I had lost 80lbs.gain it all back.I went to a surgeon office in fremont california, to find out about a revison surgery to have gastric bypass. He took alot of test.Because of the past surgery still staple, surers scar tussue. He does'nt know what he can give me.Maye the vertical sleeve.or maybe no surgery.I just need to know is it possible after all these years. Will I ever be the person I want to be.I have given up so much to have this surgery. And this is my story:svengo:

I guess I'm confused at your story -- you said you've already had gastric bypass? I thought that was the most radical of surgeries. Or, perhaps I'm missing something and those more experienced will have a better idea of what you are referring to.

There are a lot of people who gain all their weight back with gastic bypass. Their stomachs stretch out easily. It's easy to lose weight the first year, but unless they continue to eat small portions and stay away from junk, the weight will come back on. I have seen it with just about all the people I know who had gastric bypass.

Actually, the most radical is the DS. And people with RnY do revise to it. Also, sometimes they put a lapband around the stoma to tighten it.

But I'm confused too. :lol0:

I'm just wondering? 30 years ago? I wonder if maybe they had their stomach stapled? I think that was common 30 years ago? This may explain, the person wondering if they can be revised?

I know one person who had a stomach stapling about 30 years ago, and of course it streched back out, they didn't realize back then, that it wouldn't work long term because of stretching.

If this is the case, they maybe could be converted to sleeve? Or maybe converted to DS?

We need more information. Which type of bypass did you get? Distal? How much intestine was bypassed? Or did they just do the stomach stapling?

DS is more extreme than bypass. Sometimes RNY can be revised to DS but not always. Each person is different.

The OP is describing the old stomach stapling procedure but calling it bypass. I think a lot of folks with the 70s/80s version of the stomach stapling were told it was bypass, I've seen that written too many times for them to not be told they were bypassed.

If it was the old stomach stapling revision options are better. If it was bypass revision options are limited.

Ask your Doctor about the "rose Procedure". It is used to shrink the pouch back to the size it was after surgery. I dont know if it would work in all bypass surgeries but its something to look into. Here is a link to some info and video. ROSE Procedure at Los Angeles Weight Loss Centers

Also do a search on www.obesityhelp.com for rose procedure, there may be people who have had it done.

Sadly Rose, Revise, and Stomaphyx are big failures. People usually lose a few pounds and that's it. The clips they use to tighten up the pouch break as soon as the person starts on solid food. :o(

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
