Hello. I had lap band surgery Aug 19th this year! Unfortunately my experience hasn't been a successful one! I have no restriction and find my self hungry and eating all the time, haven't lost any weight instead I've gained some : (!! I don't understand why?!?? Today I go for my first filling, hoping this will help!!! Any one experience this?!

Most all of us have similar experiences to what you described. However, if you try to stick to healthy foods and eat Protein first, you may find that you're less hungry. It took me 3 fills and 4 months to finally feel enough restriction/satiety to start losing weight and avoid Bandster hell. You are not alone so ramp up those fills.

I know exactly how you feel, I was banded for the second time in May 2013 and did not lose any weight, in fact I gained after having 1 fill. Went to see my doctor for suggestions and was told to keep a log of what I was eating, it turned out that I was drinking a ton of calories. "MyFitnessPal.com" is a great tool to use to keep track of what you are eating. I have been logging my food for a little over two weeks and I have lost 6 pounds. I am getting excited again... Hang in there.

Don't get frustrated yet, give it time to work, when your band tells you you are full stop, but you can't eat what you want and think your going to lose, I'm not trying to be harsh, just trying to help, the My Fitness Pal does work, just keep logging your foods, and the amount.

keeping a food diary is a excellent tool. keep track of the 3 meals you should be eating a day. keep meals to 300-400 cal. each. also keep track of your Protein and cal. protein needs to be the major concern. remember Protein Drinks are 100-130 cal and the calories you are adding to it to mix. all foods should be low fat low caloric foods. even if you don't feel full you know to quit eating when you have eaten about a cup full of food. eat slowly but not to slow. if you are still hungry perhaps a fill is indicated. my doctor judges by wt loss in a month. 5 lbs is a amt he is satisfied. if its less than 5 than a fill was done.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
