I had this happen to me for the past 4 years. I have had my band checked out by my doctor several times and he could not figure out why I was having this issue. Both me and my husband got tired of me always being sick, coughing constantly, and the reflux, omg! I had my lap band removed 2 weeks ago on the 25th of September. I did not get anything else put in me. I have not thrown up, had reflux or coughed since I had it taken out. I have slept soundly for the first time in 4 years. I did the recliner/extra pillow thing. I took heartburn medicine. I ate heartburn friendly foods, when I could eat and was not vomiting. I tried everything. Good luck with your issues. They truly suck!

Hi,

Glad to hear it's better after seeing Dr. It's funny as I posted almost exact same thing a few weeks back..I felt better immediately after unfill. This is what I posted after. Oh yea I was also on a girls weekend and drinking a little wine too.. I think that made it worse:)

I asked him to do flora to look at it. I was very tight (as I expected ) and the drink went down really slow. He said above band looked agitated so took .5 cc out and prescribed antacid but it stopped that night so haven't taken any med. Now though I don't eat too much but getting hungrier quickly so worried. I'll give it a few weeks but if gain will go back and ask him to put .1 or .2 back.

Take care

Newbies don't need fear. They need to be educated and not by fear. As for your 7 years on here...big deal it won't get you a free cup of coffee. Another thing if you are so down on the band and it's high rate of failure then why did you not only get it once but twice?

I normally don't feed the trolls but it seems you have this pattern of spreading gloom and doom about the band yet you've been banded twice and because you have a combined 8 years of band experience you seem to think it's OK to come off with this "Knowledge of everything Band" attitude.

Every experience is unique to the individual and just because you've heard of this or that or this happened to you doesn't mean it's going to happen to the next person.

Jim, I agree with you wholeheartedly! The problem with "nana" is not so much her "advice" but her knowing it all and condescending attitude. I am soooooo happy that people are waking up and putting her in her place. I do not understand how so many different people try to tell her about her attitude but I guess denial is denial.

On a more positive note, I joined this forum because I wanted to be around people who have a band. Sometimes friends and family members can't understand us or offer advice because they don't have band experience. That's why this forum is so great. I am trying to see the positive side of everything, and with that being said and I can't believe I'm doing this, but I think that Nana was giving good advice.

Hi all..

I have been banded since April 2012 and have been very successful so far. I love my band and have worked hard to lose 53 pounds....yeah!!! The past two weeks I have had some acid reflux at night and some "night cough". Last night was the worst! I don't think my band is too tight and I am not eating late. I

Luckily I have an appt with my doctor tomorrow to see what he says. I cannot go another night thru that hell. Does anyone have any ideas? This is normal for some people right? I also tend to get some gurgling noises during the day in my throat...

Please help!!!!

I have been getting heart burn also its horrible. I just got a fill last night.

I have developed heartburn too. I just want to say that not everything we experience is directly related to the lap band. I have silent reflux, the dr prescribed me Prilosec. I'm feeling much better.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
