How long after surgery for excercising?

Recommended Posts

Will be banded on October 29th. I'm a bit worried about all my skin being loose.

How long before I can work out?

Are there any exercises I should stay away from?

Also, I have tendonitis which makes running walking very painful.

Any advise I would appreciate.

I started walking day 1 - just 10 minutes at first, and gradually building up to 40. At my 3 week follow up I was cleared for more strenuous exercise, with the warning to build up slowly and not do anything that hurts. I went to the gym for the first time today (4 weeks post op) and did 15 min elliptical, 15 recumbent bike, and 15 walking/stretching.

i don't have a band yet so i can't contribute on that front' but i would recommend swimming. start slow, make it a habit, add time as you go. if you have ymca in your city that is a good place to start. big people don't really draw attention there if that's an issue for you. in my experience no matter what gym you go to people don't judge, no one as ever said anything remotely derogatory about my weight. in fact after you're around for a while people start rooting for you. good luck.

Up to your Dr....I had an appointment with my surgeon one week post op to check for infection, etc...it was then he cleared me to return to the gym, and also to soak in baths, whirlpools, etc....but also said go easy on heavy lifting for a few weeks more....

Again, this is a question you should be asking your Dr. and the answer should be only from your Dr.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
