June 2006 Band Crew

Recommended Posts

Hi, I am Mary, age 63. I was banded in June and have lost 40 lbs so far . I have had a hard time getting my fill right , either too little or too much. I think I have it right now at 3.8 . I had it about 7 weeks ago and have lost 20 lbs sinse then. The 1st 7 months was a slow go and I still find it hard to find solid foods that I can eat. I need help knowing what to eat. No trouble with the Hair loss so far. I just want the bread and meat so bad at times. What do you guys eat?

Mary; every one is different. Just try your best to eat healthy. If the scale is going down and you are happy, you are fine.

I went for my fill, they removed .4, and I can drink. Yeah!!!! I am down 6 lbs in 4 weeks, miserable the whole time, but I lost weight.

Have to do liquids for a few days... then mushies. Sucks, but I am so happy to drink liquids in the morning.

just wanted to say hi everyone. I am home and trying to get stronger each day. But the swelling is going down, and so is the scale, wonder what 6 days in the hospital with no food will do. I hit my 100lbs loss today down to 155. so at least there is a ray of sun in my darkness right now.

Reginia what an accomplishment, but not the best way. :fish: glad you are getting stronger.

Welcome Mary. We all have our issues with this band. We are still learning how to live with it.

Poodles I know you feel better after the unfill. Good for you. Now let's see how you do.

I feel fuller with this fill. I started taking my aciphex tonight. I don't have heartburn pain, but the fullness in the esphogus that comes with it. I'm going to take it for at least 10 days and see if that makes a difference.

We are going to a nice Italian restaurant Saturday night with another couple. Technically I'm still on mushies so don't know yet what I'll eat. I know minnestroni Soup would be good. Maybe I'll just drink some wine.

Mary - Welcome! Of all things, very tender beef is easiest. It is the one meat I can chew to smitherines. chicken somehow gets stuck. I love chopped salads and lately I've been eating cold Cereal in the mornings. (after 9:30 a.m)

Regina, congrats on the new milestone. My Dad had surgery recently and recovery seemed to take forever. My Mom's comment was "it's not his time yet". He did recover in due time and so will you.

I bought a smaller size bra today More for incentive than anything. Maybe it will keep my mind off my suddenly very "crepe" neck and what's left of my double chin.

I'm glad you are home and getting better Regina!

Welcome Mary!

I am having a hard time being motivated. My bruises are pretty much healed from my accident and I was going to start exercising again and now I have a cold. It is in the beginning stages and I am just wiped out. I came home from work yesterday and slept for 2 hours! I can't really taste food, so I'm craving super salty and sweet foods. I did resist the temptation to go to McDonald's today. I kept trying to do liquids and I would do fine until the evenings when I was RAVENOUS. I need to go get a small fill soon, but I don't have $100 extra bucks or the time to get to Mexico right now. Anyway, just checking in.

Oh! Barb- Is it the Bally's spa we are going to? I'll look it up online and see what they offer. I'm thinking massage..........

Yes Bally's spa. Check it out and I'll make appointments. I also want to see if we can get a cabana reserved for the pool. I think it would be fun to sip our drinks and lounge by the pool. :fish:

OOOOO.... Cabana Boys.... might just have to pay for that view.

Well, I overdid it tonight. "Take it easy on your pouch, she said" yesterday, but tonight I ate steak. It was the best Sirloin steak I have ever tasted. I ate all of it and it was gooooooooood. I guess it was about 3-4 ounces. (less the parts I spit out) I love meat. But my tummy is in shock now, and I took a phengran cause I am feeling queezy. Guess I DO need to take it easy.

Figure since I have not been able to eat ice cream for the past few weeks, I won't start back. Now I just need to totally get off sugar in my coffee, and stop drinking Ensure. (full of carbs)

I envy all of the bansters going to Vegas. Cabana boys, gambling, and fun in sin city. Oh what fun!!!!

Well, now I think I am too loose. My husband wants to slap me. But I ate a WHOLE PIECE OF pizza tonight at Chuck E Cheeses. It was a small slice, but it was all gone!!!!

I have been drinking water/shakes/coffee/tea all day, ate a piece of bacon this morning. I am living the high life and feeling good.

Hope everyone is doing great this Cinco de Mayo! Don't get too drunk!!!!

Don't worry Poodles. You were much too tight. Last night I went to dinner with friends and had 2 Cosmopolitians, 3 toast points with artchicoke dip, and 3 ozs of veal marsala and 3 tablespoons of mashed potatoes, and two pea pods and 2 slivers of carrots. I was getting full, but I think I could have eaten the rest if I had known the waiter wasn't going to wrap the rest for me in a to go box. :Banane43:

I had a .2 fill on Wednesday. I was supposed to be on mushies, but that's hard at an upscale restaurant. I probably just should have drank. I'll see how I do on this and maybe if all goes well get another one in 2 weeks. Today I feel very full and I'm just sipping my coffee. I'll see how I am in a few hours.

Hi all ! First off, I hate the changes to this site!

Alot has been going on in my personal life, so I have not been in here to post. I have read everyone's post and I have nothing great to post :cry !

The end of March started with an increased in my medication which of course, I hate since there are always added side effects.

April was looking okay until my son developed constent Constipation. We took him to the pediatican and he was puton all types of special stuff to make him go. The poor kid was so uncomfortable! We are refered to a specialist and the appointment is for the following Wednesday, April 25th.

Then my mother-in law fell and broke her pelvis - that was on a Friday, April 13th. She is being tranfered to a rehab hosptial the week of the April 23th.

On April 21st, I again have my medication changed, taken off one and put on another. They are trying to get my levels in check - I have Bipolar 1.

Monday, I think the stress off my son being constipated and the medication got to both my hubby and me and we argued and fought. It got ugly and we decide to seperate for a while.

In the mist of it all we had to take my son to the specialist who had us give my son two emea's to relief his constipation and it finally worked Monday night --THANK GOD!

We had to talk to our therapist about all this and it was not easy. His therapist in my opinion is jerk and only in it for the money. Mine on the other hand is the most caring women on earth who lets me call her anytime even on the weekends!

Yesterday he finally came back to live with us but it will be hard , we actually wrote out a list of rules and have them on the refridge. Its long with 20 items and we both agreed that if we can make the first 5 work then we know we are going to be okay.

We have been married for 5 years and have been through alot -- Our son was born at 32 weeks premature and weighted only 2 pounds 11 ounces at birth . He was in the NICU for 2 1/2 mouth and almost died of pneumenia when he was three days old. My Bipolar, my surgey last year!

Its alot and still we are together!

As for my weight -- I am not doing well, I have been under tremendous stress not knowing what is going to happen with my son( they wanted to do surgery to see if there was a blockage if he did not go soon !), my marriage ( are we getting divorced). and my Bipolar( what meds are they putting me on next !) it was alot to handle! i was throwing up both good and bad food, and was feeling sick.

I called my Nurse ANP and she said that the muscles around my espaghus are probably so tight from stress. That it happens, and to try to relax before eating .

She also told me to try just eating bland food like oatmeal and drinking Protein Shakes.< /span>

I am hanging in there right now, my therapsit has been great and so has my best friend.

My husband has been taking my son to visit his cousin who lives near by for play dates so I can have time for myself.

I do not know what will happen with us, but I will keep you posted.

Thank you for letting me post here.

Lisa

P.S I no longer get the post by email here anymore, since they go to my spam folder.

WHAT HAPPEND TO THIS SITE!!!

Gosh Lisa, you really have been through a lot this year. I'm glad your hubby came back and you are working things out! I'm glad your son is doing better as well. Hang in there! We all have our ups and downs and even though some of us have lower lows and higher highs, we have each other to lean on.

Every time I log in, I can only see up to the last post that I saw the last time I was logged on, until I post something new, anyone else having this problem?

I hate what they have done here! OK, I was able to post, then read everyones posts and now I am editing my original post. What a pain!

Wow, Barbara, I think I need an unfill. I can't even eat a couple of bites and I am miserable. AND the scales are moving EVER SO SLOW... Nothing to eat and no weight loss to speak of. I think I, too, need an unfill, as much as I hate to admit it!!

Lisa, I am so sorry you have been going through so much. I so hope that you and your husband can work through everything. Sounds like he is at least willing to seek help, so that is great! And glad your son is ok. He sure has come a long way! I know he is your angel sent from above!! I have been having issues with My daughter who is 12. She is very bright and in all gifted classes, but is severly depressed. She just started on anti-depressants 3 months ago. 1 month, fluoxotine, 20mg. Caused her ticks, next month, 10 mil-not enough, now, Lexipro 20mg. Last night, she told me she is so sad all the time. Nothing is working. Now I am trying to find a counselor. (Her pshycologist only monitors meds) Not easy to do. She had a break down last night and I'm jsut not sure how to handle her. She just laid in her bed under the covers crying and would not look at me, speak to me or respond to me in any way. I finally just left her alone and she eventually came out of her room. SHe has always been so care free and now all of the sudden, I am finding out she has all these issues... I just hope the medication starts to kick in and we can find a counselor that will help. I feel so helpless and it breaks my heart to see her hurting so much. Sorry to lay this all out, but it sure feels good to "talk" with some one about these issues.

Momma..............I don't know much about kids and depression but I do know there has been so much on the news lately about kids being on antidepressants and commiting suicide. Please, please get good medical help for her. It is so scary. Our local news just had a father interviewed who is suing the company that makes Lexipro as his young daughter hung herself. I don't say these horrible things to scare you but I felt I had to say something.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
