Has anyone really struggled after surgery going back to work? I am having a hard time. I am exhausted and feel like I can't work like I used to.

I am worried about the same. I am getting banded in two weeks. I have a very active job and do a lot of running around.

Have you been taking your proper Vitamins and eating enough protien? Sorry that's my only input because I am not at your point yet!

I'm newly banded....I had my surgery on 8/29/13 and I returned to work on 9/3/13. The first couple of days were tough. I was very sluggish and I had brain fog. But, I tend to think that it had alot to do with the fact that I was still on the clear liquid diet. Once I was able to move to the next phase of the post op diet, I felt much better. I had to also make sure that I was getting as much liquid as possible, getting in as much Protein as my body could handle and taking a multi Vitamin daily....Hang in there, it will get better

I am. I take 2 Multivitamins a day, Iron, B12, Biotin and I eat at least 60 grams Protein a day. I track everything I eat and make good choices. I used to work 60-70 hours week. I was tired but it was no big deal. Now this is my first week back and I had to call I today because I'm worn out. I will have only worked about 35 hours this week. I don't know what to do. Stress affects me more now because I cannot turn to food. Ugh. What to do.

i took 8 days off from work at a desk job....and i think for the first 2 or 3 days, i was (tired) by the end of my day....keep up with the Protein, the Vitamins and rest when you can/need too and you will be as good as new in no time :)

You need to remember that you just had MAJOR surgery. Your body, and your mind all need healing still.

Try not to beat yourself up about taking time for you to recoup and relax. I know it's not the easiest thing to do, but you want to be successful and healthy in your weight loss.

I had a hard time dealing with stress as well without all my favorite comfort foods, but you will get by that. You will find new ways to cope with the stress when it comes along, and you will find that you rely less and less on the foods that are missing.

Please give yourself some love 60-70 hours a week is a LONG day. I know I work 10-12 hour days myself, and then go home and take care of a house full of kids and family members.

Call in if you need a day, even a mental health day and enjoy it!!!

I did stay home today. I needed it. I am 5 weeks out from surgery and thought that In regards to work and energy I would be better. I'm just disappointed.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
