Supplements with Lap Band

Recommended Posts

I have discussed with my Doc that I do not want to lose my size, but just the fat from my body as I intend to retain the muscle that I have and to build new muscle as well. I am 6"2 and currently 263lbs. Has anyone ever taken supplements with the Lap Band? How did it work out for you? And when I say supplements I mean things like Green Tea, Yamimbi Bark, etc.

It's inevitable you will lose some size because while fat is not as dense as muscle it's still has a lot more volume than muscle.

I drink a lot of Green Tea, take Biotin, a Multivitamin, and D3.

What type of supplements are you looking for?

Most of us have to take r Multivitamins and some kind of supplements to keep r streanth and musles tight so they don't get weak cause we can get weak or dehydrated fast so I know of a few and that's why most of us do Protein Shakes , steamed veggies and other Protein foods to keep r musles up.

Looking to start taking green tea, Yamimbi, and maybe a B12. Also would like to find an herbal supplement to help with metabolism. I already take a men's 1 a Day and 2 Flintstone Vitamins a day.

Bigboy, I think that you will be fine taking the supplements. I take some B-12, Magnesium, and others, if they are capsules and too big, I open them. Bets wishes. Karen

If you get B12, your best bet is actually injectable at your doctor. Your next best choice is a liquid or the kind that dissolves under the tongue immediately. If you take B12 as a pill, your body doesn't absorb it nearly as well and it's less effective.

B12 has a very short shelf life and isn't absorbed well via ingestion. That's why doctors will often opt to give it via injection (usually monthly) because when it's injected it's a lot more effective.

B12 is usually taken for extra energy or a B12 deficiency. (it definitely works too).

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
