Recommended Posts

Hello! My name is P.J. I am 29 years old, married and have 2 great boys. I am at my all time highest weight 256 and I really need help.:nanahump:

My oldest son is 6 and becoming overweight also. I feel that if I can get banded that I can start to get healthy, and start to teach him how to be healthy also.:hungry:

I have gotten some GREAT help from here. Would love to talk to others about this whole journey.:Banane41:

I have been scheduled for my first appointment an May 30th. My insurance has been approved. But I am scared to death that something will go wrong and I will not be able to get the surgery done.:)

Would love to hear from you!:help: :help:

PJ, it's perfectly normal to be apprehensive about surgery! Heck, if it was so easy then EVERYONE would do it! I was melancholy about the whole thing. My attitude was "if I could control my eating, I wouldn't have gotten myself into this mess."

It wonderful that you've already gotten insurance approval and are ready-to-go. Keep coming to the boards and get support. Read all that you can and prepare for the journey.

Shawn

Your going to be fine, you are arresting you weight and you children are young enough to start turning around any bad habits. They will grow out of any excess weight now. I'm proud of you, you have a lot of fine living ahead of you!!

http://www.lapbandtalk.com/forumdisplay.php?f=8 You might want to read this thread on insurance. Also post here for insurance questions. Sometimes, I've read, folks can appeal if they have an exclusion. Other times, they pay for it via credit, financing, or going to Mexico. Good luck...Shawn

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
