Lap band and Salads...

Recommended Posts

I'm 8 months post op and eat salad everyday. My salads have iceburg and romaine lettuce grape tomatoes' date=' thin sliced cucumbers, onions, shredded carrots and onions . I cut the lettuce small, slice the mushrooms, peel the cucumbers and I put it all in a big plastic bowl, add two tablespoons of blue cheese dressing inn it. I put the lid on the bowl and seal it. I shake the bowl until the dressing covers all the salad ingredients and I have one awesome salad. I also have absolutely no problems eating my salad either. I chew well and enjoy . So I don't think it's going to hurt you but ask your doctor if you're that concerned.[/quote']

Umm....I want you to come to my house and make me a salad lol! Your salad sounds absolutely fabulous!

Salads are fine, I just need to take my time, and if something won't chew down to a fine consistency, I just discreetly take it out of my mouth. On occasion Tomato skins and snow pea sprouts can be hard for my teeth to cut through.

I've been loving a hard boiled egg with baby spinach , alfalfa, bean shoots, cucumber, avocado and some Dijon mustard and lemon juice, easy to throw together in a few minutes.

I often don't even use lettuce as a base given I end up not using it quick enough. iCabbage I've enjoyed a lot more post band, I find it is crunchy to the bite, lasts for ages and great in Soups, stir fry's and finely sliced and tossed with some tuna or salmon with mayo on crackers

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
