Hi guys, well next week i will be getting my first fill and i'm wondering if when you get your fill, is it or was it weird to experience getting "full" or only being able to eat a little bit of food? right now i basically feel like i have no restriction! so i hope with this fill i'll get some....i'm tired of eating and not being really full.....how did if feel like to find you weren't so hungry?

this is the only thing that is keeping me positive!

help me out guys

thanks reyna

hate to break this to you, but i would not expect full restriction with the first fill. i could never "consciously" feel my restriction, but i did lose weight daily the first week. after that, i maintained. i got my second fill yesterday, which was one month after the first fill. over half of the first fill had disappeared from the band. this is normal according to my doc. i can feel the restriction now. it is not utterly dramatic, but i can definitely call this restriction. i have to be really careful about finishing my meals in 20 minutes. otherwise, i could sit and eat slowly, and the food would pass at a rate that would allow me to eat large portions. If i try to eat the large portions too fast, BOY, do i feel it. so, i eat slowly, and stop at 20 minutes, following the bandster rules of Protein first, etc. I am going to weigh again on monday, and we will see if this starts the scales to moving.

good luck to you!

thank you...why do you allow yourself only 20 minutes to eat? is that a bandster rule? i jusst always heard to allow yourself 30 minutes because it will take you much longer to eat

I find the same thing - if I eat really slowly, I could eat forever. I find myself getting the stop signal - real fulness is quite uncomfortable for me now, so I put my dinner aside and 10 minutes later start to nibble again and before you know it, I've gotten through the whole thing which was too big for a bandster in the first place.

So i too have to make myself stop at 20 minutes - or sooner if I"m full.

nerd, Jachut's message should clear up the reason for stopping meals at 20 minutes. After 20 minutes, your pouch has had time to work some of the food through the band, so you have room to replace it. If you sit long enough, you will end up eating too derned much and defeat the purpose of the band.

good luck and by the way. i had my second fill on wednesday, and i am really feeling the difference. each day is more significant.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
