Yup, its all very normal. Welcome to Bandland :)

Try some Gas-X and a heating pad for relief of gas. Walking does wonders for this as well. The diahrrea is also typical while on the liquid phase of the post-op diet. You might try a bit of liquid Imodium A-D.

Each day gets better. Hang in there!

*hugs*

That's the way it was for most of us...but it does get better! I think the best advice I got was "walk, walk walk...sip, sip, sip"! Hang in there, and you'll feel better soon!

I recenlty read on another group that gasx doesn't really help with the type of gas you are trying to get rid of (from surgery) however, i had gas pains on and off for MONTHS AFTERWARD AND gasx was my best friend. What also helped (walking didn't do it for me as i walked for hours) - but my guy finally started gently rubbing my shoulder/back where i felt the gas and gently rocking me back and forth (kind of hard to explain). It would make me burp and fart (sorry) for quite some time and we had many laughs over this. hang in there as it will go away.

Ok, what does it mean when every tiny little sips hurts to go down-hot cold-everything?

Hey lovechunks,

You'll get a wider response if you start a new thread with your question. Asking your question here is asking a question inside someone else's question/discussion.

Go to the main page, click on General Discussion. At the top of the screen you'll see a tab labelled "New Thread". Click that and then ask your question. Put in as much information about yourself and your band as you can as it gives people a better idea of what's going on.

Personally, to me it sounds like you're just still swollen from your surgery and you're becoming aware of your body, which is a good thing. Re-ask your question and see what other people think. Of course, if you're in a lot of pain or you're really worried, call your doctor.

Good luck to you. Keep posting so we'll know how you're doing.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
