How long did it take to find the "sweet spot"

Recommended Posts

I am now two months (10 weeks) post surgery. I have had one fill and scheduled for a second in the next week. My clinic insists on 4 weeks between fills which I think is normal and safe. I don’t know the number of cc’s in my band, it isn’t something the clinic I have used concentrates on but I will ask on my next visit if I remember.

I’m not feeling much of a restriction at all (if any) I lost weight during the Fluid phase and the first couple of weeks on solids but have found myself at a stand still now. I do my best to limit my food to 1 cup to 1.5 cups per meal and eat all my Protein first per my instructions. I just don’t feel any restriction at all and managed to gain a ½ pound this week (I know exactly how and have no one to blame but myself). I am fully capable of eating way more but use self control right now rather than the band to limit my intake. I don't feel any true restriction yet but I do get things “stuck”. Odd things like nuts or boiled eggs.< /span>

My question is; on average how long did it take you to find the “sweet spot” to restrict your food intake and get the ball rolling?

Hello,

I hit my sweet spot on fill #3 at 5cc. I too got fill every 4- weeks so I want to say I was at green by month 5-6.

It's probably relevant to figure out how much volume you have. If someone posts 2 months, the next 6 months and the next a year..the missing factor is how much they had in their band, what size band did they have, and how conservative/aggressive of fills did the doc give them. The last factor is the individual and how well they responded to their fills. THere are some who need no fills (EVER!!!) and those who need the entire band filled before getting to green.

I'd hit my sweet spot, lose weight and loosen the band, sweet spot, lose weight, loosen band. I did this for the first 9 months. After that it was just tweaking it to the right place which took a total of about a year.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
