Recommended Posts

Hello my name is Isabel.

Banded: March 15, 2013

Beginning weight: 276

Current weight: 242

My last visit was about 2 weeks ago, since my last visit I haven't been able to keep anything down. I'm not sure if that would be a good idea? I'm a little set where I want to be, if they un-fill I don't want to go back to my eating habits. Please help?

Thank you :)

Call your doctor ASAP. My doctor has someone on call 24/7, does yours?

That sounds too tight- and too tight isn't where you want to be. Too tight won't make you lose weight any faster, only put you at risk for a slip.

You talk about going back to your old eating habits- you have to remember the band goes around your stomach, not your brain. It's your job to change your eating habits, not the band's job. The band is there to keep you satisfied on less food for long periods of time, not change your eating habits.

Here's a link I think will help: http://drsimpson.net/fills/Lap-band-eating/lap-band-not-restriction/lap-band-and-restriction.html

Best wishes

I went thru same thing two weeks ago. Couldn't even get Water down for 3 days. Went to dr that Monday and had lost 7lbs. Gained 4 back quick but think water weight and eating again. I want to know... If I had some removed... Will I be too full if they add removed amount back two weeks later?

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
