80lbs in 16mos and 70 more lbs to go

Recommended Posts

Hi, I was banded January of 2005. I am 16mos out and have lost

77 pounds. I started a 322 lbs and now weigh 245lbs.My goal weight

is 170 to 180 pounds. I started out in a size 26w (4x) I am now in size

20 jeans and 18/20 tops. I know I have lost and I know we all hit spells

where we come to a stand still. I have had some times in the last 16 mos where my band has been unfilled and had to wait a time period to refill. I am just wondering if this is slow weight loss for some or fast for others. I guess I just want to know if I am doing ok or not. They say you should have over half your goal weight lost in the first year and that is not true for me. Any comparisons, suggestions or any comments out there?

Mary

Holy Moses, Mary, you're doing great, in my humble opinion. Do this.....go pick up 9 gallons of Water and try walking around with them. That is only 72 pounds! And you got rid of all that! You rock! Keep it up!

Hey there!

I was banded in July of '04 and I've lost 60 lbs. Everyone loses at different rates for different reasons. In the Lap Band Support forum, there's a sticky thread for the "Slow Loser's Club", you might want to check it out. Basically it's for anyone who isn't losing at least a pound a week on average.

You'll get there! It's just going to take a little longer than you'd hoped for (same with me :) ).

As long as you're feeling well and consistently losing weight, you're fine. Congratulations on a great accomplishment so far.

5 lbs a month is perfectly respectable in terms of rate of loss... right on for the 1-2 lb a week guideline.

You are doing GREAT!~

Keep up the good work! (and post some pictures!)

:]

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
