Ok girls and guys I have a question. I had my first fill on Wednesday. I had 3cc in the bad after surgery and they tried to get my up to five on Wednesday but when I drank Water I can fill the gurgle in my chest. I take it that it was not going down as it should. I ended up getting only .5 cc. Weight loss started back however everything is still going down sooo easy it seems to me. Is this normal? Has anyone every experience this? I was told at the doctors office that sometimes when one gets fills it can irritate the stomach the first few times. Can anyone shed some light on this situation. Thanks in advance

Doctor's office is right. Fills can cause some additional irritation to the stomach lining causing some swelling for a few days causing you to be tight. Let it go for a few days and then check back.

I felt the green zone at a very small fill amount (around 4cc) so it's possible that you're close. As you lose with the band, internal fat around the organs goes away too. This is why in the beginning you visit the Dr so often and how you can feel in the zone for a while but then the feeling goes away again. As you lose more weight, fills wont be needed nearly as frequently. I believe I had a total of four fills before I only went back to my team for the required visits with the psych, physical therapist, and nutritionist. I have seen my surgeon a few times in the last six to eight months, most recently to have Fluid removed because my allergies were causing major tightness.

OK thanks for the info. I have another appointment for 4 weeks but they said if I feel the need I can come back in 2 weeks so I think that's what I might do but as of now I still eat three times a day and a cup full of food. However, I do have some yellow zone tendencies like looking for food but I do not eat once I stop and think "hey im not hungry" lol

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
