Where did you hear about the "kink" in the band? I have never heard of this. What kind of symptoms do you have? I have had 2 slips, one that needed a revision operation. Best wishes on your problem. Karen

Went in for my check up and decided to get a small fill when they tried to remove the Fluid to see how much was in the band I could feel it tugging. They couldn't remove any fluid. They reviewed my upper gi disk and it shows as plain as day its kinked.I know they had a recall for this for my band but only on the ones that weren't placed in anyone..

I'm assuming it's the port that's kinked (or is the the band itself?) They discovered my port was kinked, and I had to have a port revision in early June. All fixed, and working as it should now! Good luck, and feel free to msg me if you have any specific questions!

Kinks in the tubing are very easily fixed but do require day surgery. Usually it isn't a difficult thing to fix and the likelihood of re-occuring is very low.

When I get a fill, the first thing the Dr. does if pull all the Fluid out of my band, to measure it and check color, etc....he then replaces it with fresh saline.

Well, one time when he tried to pull the saline out, he could not no matter how firmly he pulled...

I had a kink in the tubing, and the more he pulled, the tighter the kink got.....

Fortunately, you can see my port, AND the tubing right under my skin as clear as day, and you can easily see it kink, ...so it was easy to massage the tubing with my index finger to prevent it from collapsing while he worked the syringe....

I had a kink in the tubing that resulted in my tubing cracking, long story short, I ended up having surgery to cut tubing then rejoin it to the port. Quick and simple, but did have complications with surgical sight infection so port came out and healed then back to put in new port.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
