As the title of this post suggests, I am new to Lap Band - and new to this forum!

My name is NaChae. I am a registered nurse, wife, and mother of 3. Since I had my first child I have struggled with PCOS and my weight. I have tried diets, workout plans, and all kinds of diet pills, but every success was short lived. The weight just kept coming back. After being on prescription diet pills (Adipex) off and on for the last year or two, I started weighing the long-term consequences of these pills on my overall health. A girl at my job shared her Lap Band story with me and I started consuming all the information I could find about it. To my surprise my husband was completely supportive! After a few office visits, some financial finagling, and an EGD.... I was banded on Wednesday, July 10, 2013!

I'm still on thin, mostly Clear liquids. I'm not really hungry at all, but I'm eating (drinking lol) on schedule and taking in plenty of Water. Pain is tolerable, but definitely there, particularly where my port is located. I'm very excited about my future with Lap Band. I can't wait to shed the excess weight and show everyone the me that I am inside.

Congrats! Welcome to the forum. I have only recently rediscoved it after being away for a few years but in the past couple of weeks it has been very helpful for me and I have enjoyed getting to know some of the regulars!

I just got banded 7/11 and wish you all the luck with it! I keep hearing these first two weeks are the most difficult with the pain of recovery! When are you planning on going back to work? I have a desk job so will be returning to work on 7/18, have 7/19 and 7/21 off as my normal days off so hopefully will be easier to work into it.

Going back tomorrow. I work in as an RN in a Cath Lab, but I will be monitoring (documenting in real time on the computer, at a desk) or in the office doing scheduling/QA stuff. The most active thing I'll do all day is go for my morning walk and get in and out of a chair a few times all day! I really love my job and miss my coworkers, so I'm excited to get back!

Hi Nachae: I started a thread on here about PCOS. Check that out - several of us posted about it. Glad to hear your stories... looking for all of us to have great success. My surgery is on Wednesday (07/17). Nervous but ready for the new chapter to begin after 20 years of struggling with PCOS.

How exciting! Freedom from the angst of pcos was one of my primary motivators to get banded. The weight, mood swings, infertility, facial and body hair.... hoping for some balance! Good luck to you! I will check out the pcos forum too, thank you!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
