I was eating chicken and I didn't chew right, it got stuck and then came back up. I have never had this happen and I feel fine but I'm worried. What should I do?

Use answered your own question :) take your time eating and be careful to chew your food up good...this should help..but if it becomes a real problem consult your doctor

I got stuck I think last night for the first time on chicken. It didn't come back up but it was painful going down and took a good 10 minutes- I just layed down while it was hurting me and then it passed...I don't know if that was getting "stuck" or what, but I didn't chew well or maybe ate it too quick I'm not sure. UGH.

I did the same thing last night with scrambled eggs! I was so excited to see my son who's been gone all summer at camp that I wasn't eating like I had the band. Ouch! When will I learn?!?

If you get mildly stuck where food easy regurgitates without force I usually stop eating and than later that day introduce fluids to see how I feel. If all is well I will usually proceed with solid foods. However, if you get stuck and it takes a prolonged period to pass, is super uncomfortable and has symptoms like nausea, acid reflux, or it induced vomiting this is when you should exercise some caution as this type of 'stuck' will have caused some inflammation. To do so, go on a liquid diet x1 day and the next day intro some mushies first and than solids if all feels well. liquid diet can be extended for however long is necessary if you continue to feel sore or if you notice increased restriction (d/t inflammation). chicken is one of those meats a lot of us struggle with us. One day it goes down no problem, next day not even close. Make sure your lean meats are super moist and cut it as small as possible before chewing it down like a lawnmower. Hope this helps

Thank you all so much for the feed back. I feel pretty good today but I've only had coffee so far.

Whenever I get stuck I do what Hazel suggests and go back to liquids if I think I've swollen my stoma. I also will take some liquid motrin if needed to help get the swelling back down. Also, in the future, I recommend going slow with your first bite and always putting down your fork between each bite to help you remember to slow down. And chew chew chew! :D

Every surgeon is different in what he or she recommends for their patients. It is always best practice to follow what your surgeon has told you to do. I was banded on June 26th and had my first day today of mushies. I had 2 weeks of full liquid. It was rough, but I'm glad I did it. Best of luck

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
