Once you get your labs done it won't be long before procedure is scheduled. Congrats to you for making this choice of getting the Lap-Band. It is such an effective tool for weight loss. I have had mine for many years and still love it. Very important to exercise- so your recovery is smooth. The band will change your life and the way you feel. I was at 221lbs at my lowest after banding 142lbs. I am almost 48 years old and am now at 163lbs- you know the over 40 stuff! working really hard right now to get back down to 145lbs- you have to exercise and eat right.

I now drink Shakeology daily ( about $100 per month) which is actually a great Protein nutrient rich shake- I highly recommend! It's perfect for us lap-banders because you will get vitamen depleted- which is a big and avoidable problem for those with the band.

Exercise is extremely important so that you look and feel great when the weight comes off!

Feel free to contact me if you need more info. on Shakeology and I am also a team beach body coach- so I can help you with an at home exercise program as well. www.beachbodycoach.com/danadjoplin

Good Luck to you on your journey to health!

I got my approval around the middle part of June and I'm getting banded on July 10th. Could have done it sooner but my Dr is on vacation this week for his anniversary. He didn't want to do it and then leave town in case i needed him. As much as I wanted to do it sooner I totally respected him not wanting to run out on me. Good luck on your journey. It will be here before you know it.

Once labs/studies are done it's all a matter of your doctor's availability to do the surgery. Some docs are a few weeks out some maybe a month or so. But not too long, so hurry up and get those tests! :)

I was approved on 2/4/13, and given my surgery date the next day. Blood work was done, x-ray and the week before surgery, I visited the surgeon. My surgery was 2/25/13. I was so excited, I could have tap danced if I didn't have two left feet. Looking back the time went quickly, as it has since the surgery.

Try to stay calm and do everything the surgeon's office tells you. You'll be fine. Congrats and good luck.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
