Today is the first day of my pre-op diet. Needless to say I am starving!! To top it all off I have a wedding to go to at 3. I'm praying that The Lord gives me the strength to stay on my plan.

Good luck - you will get through it. Pre-op is very difficult but so worth it, believe me! My pre-op was two weeks long and I saw so many changes in myself I can see why the surgeon required it.

I just got surgery on Tuesday and my pre op made a huge difference in how I am handling my post op eating!! I am happy I had those two (some days excruciating ) weeks of Liquid Protein Only... Focus and mind over matter I have to say got me through every day trying to focus on the big Skinny Picture!

Wow! How long does the pre-op diet usually last? I see different responses so I suppose it depends on the surgeon. I thought it was like 3 days. Yes, that will definitely be tough!

My preop diet was a week of low carb high Protein. All dr seem to do something a little different.

Lots of variation based on doctor - I have seen it range from none at all to 3-4 weeks. There is also variation on what the pre op diet consists of.

I was told if my BMI is above 50 still I will have a 3 week pre op diet. I am working as hard as I can doing a modified version of the diet to get below a BMI of 50! I started at a BMI of 55 and I am at a BMI of 52 right now :)

Day 2 went well and i actually got some rest last night.

Today is day 3 and my stomach is confused! it's making all sorts of sounds. LOL I had a Protein shake for Breakfast and I've been sipping on Isopure. I'm finding it hard to focus without food.

I couldn't agree with you more Royalrags ~ It was hell going through those two weeks, but now that I am 3 weeks post op I see why the surgeon requires it. My mental attachment to food is gone, I look at it in an all different way. This week I started on soft phase of food and boy am I enjoying it, but it doesn't take much to fill me up and give that feeling of satisfaction. How are you doing so far post-op?

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
