June 30, 201313 yr Good luck - you will get through it. Pre-op is very difficult but so worth it, believe me! My pre-op was two weeks long and I saw so many changes in myself I can see why the surgeon required it.
July 1, 201313 yr Good luck - you will get through it. Pre-op is very difficult but so worth it, believe me! My pre-op was two weeks long and I saw so many changes in myself I can see why the surgeon required it. I just got surgery on Tuesday and my pre op made a huge difference in how I am handling my post op eating!! I am happy I had those two (some days excruciating ) weeks of Liquid protein Only... Focus and mind over matter I have to say got me through every day trying to focus on the big Skinny Picture!

July 1, 201313 yr Wow! How long does the pre-op diet usually last? I see different responses so I suppose it depends on the surgeon. I thought it was like 3 days. Yes, that will definitely be tough!

There is also variation on what the pre op diet consists of.

I couldn't agree with you more Royalrags ~ It was hell going through those two weeks, but now that I am 3 weeks post op I see why the surgeon requires it. My mental attachment to food is gone, I look at it in an all different way. July 8, 201313 yr Day 2 went well and i actually got some rest last night. Today is day 3 and my stomach is confused! it's making all sorts of sounds. LOL I had a Protein shake for breakfast and I've been sipping on Isopure. I'm finding it hard to focus without food. For me day 2-3 was the hardest. I made it though and it's a lot simpler now. I realized during this process I am a compulsive eater, and I now can control it because of this pre op diet. When my husband and I go to dinner or lunch I make better choices. Today makes 2 weeks I'm on pre op. I know I lost some lbs I can feel it Patiently waiting for my banding day! Hang in there you can do it
