I just realized...

Recommended Posts

I just realized that I am only 37 pounds from having lost 100 pounds. ONE HUNDRED POUNDS! omg. I have work to do!

We had a really bad storm here about a week ago, and unfortunately we had to be out in it. When we arrived at our daughter's apartments, it opened up and poured huge drops of rain. We got out of the car and hurried across the parking lot to the stairs, covered but not enclosed. After we got inside and dried off I realized that I ran up those stairs! I Ran!

Yesterday, we were at the Dr's office and when we sat down in the chairs in the waiting room I stopped, frowned and thought what feels so different? Then I realized... I sat down without my hips or legs touching the sides! I was always so embarassed to sit in those horrible chairs that have arms but no sides. You know the kind. Where your butt overflows the seat and buldges out under the chair arms? Bleh.

What shocking realizations have hit you lately?

Wow Susan. Those are wonderful realizations! RUNNING up stairs is a BIG thing. And my mouth dropped open when I read that you are ONLY 37 pounds from losing the century mark. Oh Happy Day!!!!

What shocking realizations have hit you lately?

That Im no longer obsessed about wondering if Im the largest person at ANY function.

Its not even something that crosses my mind.

And Im no longer 'scared' to go anywhere ~ like dancing, a casino, or even being in front of a large crowd, or anyplace where I may see someone that I havent seen in years.

Obesity was my prison.

That is absolutely awesome, Susan! I am just starting this journey, so thus far I haven't had any of those "wow" moments yet, but I can't wait until I do.

I just realized, i take the long way now. Before the band, when I tried going on walks and working out..I'd still end up taking an easier way or not walking very long. Now, I'm finding the longest possibly route to the Library Building and hoping to find uphill roads....I'm loving challenge.....way new to me.

  • No longer being fearful when I am driving that if I were in a wreck, the airbag wouldn't be able to deploy because my stomach is so tightly wedged against the steering wheel.
  • Went to the movie theater today, and for the first time I think in my life, I could sit in the seat by my hubby with the arm rests DOWN!! My butt wasn't overflowing on both sides of the seat like it usually is.
  • I'm enjoying sitting all funny, like with one of my legs folded underneathe my butt or indian style....always had to lounge back before with legs far apart so my stomach could sag down between them:omg:
  • No longer yelling at my hubby when he doesn't offer to drop me off at the door or circle the parking lot 50 times until a parking spot closer to the door opens up!
  • I was sitting on the couch by my hubby the other night and could actually see the upper part of my inner thighs while sitting!
  • I actually get a little high (which feels good) when I walk short distances now instead of feeling short of breath/winded like I used to.
  • Being able to play on the floor with my child and not need my hubby and my teenager to help me get up. I can spring into action!!!

okay....okay...I'll stop now. It just feels so good!!

Wow!! These posts are so very inspiring! I was just banded this past Monday. I have experience all of the negative sides of these things--I can't wait to experience it from the other side.

I just realized Pnut has a new avatar....funny how you look at the pics and don't even read the name -- you look so different in that pic that I didn't even know it was you! Some people probably look at the names and not the pics. I am definately a visual person though!

Congrats on the running thing......nice to be able to hustle huh? Ohhhh speaking of the hustle maybe I'll do the hustle later! I love those 70's line dances, and I can do them now! Is that the kind of thing you're looking for? I had another one last night with hubby too. At the risk of going xrated I'll just elude to the fact that I am MUCH less inhibited now and let me tell you -- THAT was the best NSV I've had in a LOOOOONG time :)

Congratulations, Pnut! I'm only 5 weeks post-op but I have noticed that my slacks are fitting much looser and I can walk longer distances without getting short of breath.

Thank you, everyone. Y'all make me smile!

All of you who are newly banded - you're going to LOVE LOVE LOVE these kinds of things when they start happening to you. They far outweigh the joy and satisfaction you get from stepping on a scale!

Paula and Robin - your posts brought tears to my eyes. Boy can I relate! Love you gals. :)

Bandayed - I'll do the hustle with you. Where can I buy some 2 1/2 inch platforms?? LOL!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
