I was banded in March 2012 and I found out today my band is beginning to slip. I hadn't been feeling well since Wednesday, couldn't eat,and really bad acid reflux. I thought I was getting better but Monday morning was bad, my husband said either get a doctor's appt. or your going to the hospital, so I went to the doctor. The xray showed there's a slip, he took all the Fluid out and said the stomach might drop down on it's own and if not, surgery. I'm so upset, I've lost 92lbs and I'm scared to go back! Anyone gone through this, I can use some encouragement :-(

I had a slip 6 weeks ago.Similar story.Reflux that wasn't getting better.Went to surgeon. He removed all Fluid from the band.X-ray showed the slip. Had surgery to re-position the band and repair a hernia.

Then began anew.

It seems now to be a blip in my progress.

Good to hear, I hope mine can be re-positioned. I don't want it to be removed. Thanx for giving me a little hope.

I had a slip, 2x. The 1st one was like yours, and it was able to go back into place on its own once unfilled. The 2nd one, I needed surgery. Best wishes to you!

I'm curious about that, too. I had plication, and one of the deciding factors on doing it, was that it reduces the margin for these types of band issues.

For those with slips, was your band stitched in place? My surgeon stitched mine in place to reduce the possibility of slippage.

I had mine stitched in place also. But having tons of Burpping no reflux though. What's weird is I can cheat easily, but when I try to eat correctly it won't go down. But this AM coffee would not even go down easily?!?

My surgeon also stitched mine into place, and he mentioned some sort of mesh fabric type of thing underneath it. He said that this new way of doing it, has dramatically reduced the amount of slips.

Glad to know I'm not the only one. Was banded Oct 2012 and ever since I got a BAD stomach bug in May 2013.. I have had issues. They say it's not slipped just tilted (seen under CT and Fluro) but not correcting itself. I'm tired of the heartburn and throwing up so I've called to get the price for the surgery. He's just going to unbuckle and reposition my band (we hope). I just dread it cause I get sick from Anesthesia and had to be admitted after my 1st surgery. Those who this has happened to.. what is the post op period like? The same as the 1st surgery?

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
