HELP, I am not losing!

Recommended Posts

Well not exactly true. I had my surgery on april 13, 2006. In total I have lost 28 pounds, 16 before surgery and 12 after. I just started mushies this past friday. Since then I have been diligent in using FitDay.com to track my daily eating and exercise. I have averaged about 1,000 calories perday and in total burned about 2,300 calories per day...and I seem to be moving slowly.

I am trying not to be greedy...hell, I've lost more in the past month than I lost in the past year and a half. But am I doing something wrong? Am I taking in enough calories. Usually I eat or drink between 80-100 grams of protein; about 30 grams in carbs.

Any suggestions...I just don't want to revert to my old ways, which is "Oh well, if I am doing everything right and not losing, I should just go ahead and eat the things I know will stall my weight loss.

Maybe I have just hit a plateau....ANY thoughts?:)

I think that's your answer. You've gone from liquids to a more solid food. It's very normal to gain a few pounds at this stage. But don't let it concern you. Once your body gets adjusted it will fall back off in no time at all. I'm sure you've heard people say that the first six weeks is for healing and you shouldn't be concerned about weight loss. If not, then you just did. *grins* Any weight loss prior to getting that first fill is considered a bonus. Besides, you know it's not logical to keep up a 28 pound per month loss. You'd be a sack of lose skin! Yuck!

Get your mind focused on the goal of 2 pounds per week and you'll get settled into the groove.

You're doing a wonderful job! Relax and enjoy the ride!

That Protein intake sounds sort of high, I could be wrong, but I think 60 grams is the usual daily goal. If you are drinking Protein drinks, take a look at the calorie content of those things.

Be patient, give your body a chance to adapt to new situation.

Thanks, Ira. My doctor suggests a goal of 80-100 grams per day, many of the Protein drinks I utilize are low calorie like Isopure only 160, and EAS only 110.

I must try to be patient though....I am a control freak and patience is not my strong suit.:nervous

patience is the hardest thing expecially in the begining.

Here are some things that might make you feel better...

*Some people don't loose at all until the 2nd or 3rd fill...

*Some people never average more then 1/2 - 1 pound per week. (your average is way higher then that)

*Everyone says "It's a gift to loose anything prior to the first fill

I was fustrated and tried of hearing the above statements since I didn't loose but 5 pounds until my second fill... now that I'm looking at it in hindsite I understand what everyone was trying to tell me.

The most imporatant # to tell if you are losing or if this is working is are you averaging (all your weeks divided by your total loss) 1 pound per week loss.

I know that sounds hard when you're staying the same week after week.

Thanks so much! I guess I should concentrate not on losing, but not gaining prior to my first fill!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
