t-14. second thoughts!

Recommended Posts

14 days to surgery, couldn't wait for the date but now time is passing so fast! I'm thinking 'what the hell were you thinking'?! Self paying - deposit done, so no backing out! Feels like I'm the first one ever to undergo such a surgery, feeling terrible sorry for myself. Mix emotions starting to kick in! Plz tell me I'm doing the right thing!

I'm going threw the same thing I've been so ready for this and now that my surgery is next wed the 19th I'm like what the heck and I doing? I know I want and need this to help me but now for some reason I'm scared and not sure why. Wish I could tell you that your making the right decision for yourself, nobody can do that except you. I've read a lot of these and it seems a lot of people go threw this and have the same feelings.

What you are feeling is perfectly normal. Even the first week post surgery I was thinking 'what the heck have I done?" But now over a month out, the scale numbers are starting to get smaller, I am off my blood pressure medication and last night I bought a pair of pants that were 3 sizes smaller than the ones I walked into the store wearing (only reason they stayed on was due to my tightly cinched belt). It was definitely the right thing for me to do. I would never have made it to this point without the band.

The thought of surgery is scary stuff, but you I'm sure you didn't make this decision lightly. A lot of thought and consideration went into it. You've come too far to let it slip through your hands. Just keep reminding yourself why you are doing it. If you need to, write it down so you can see it as often as needed. You will do just fine. Good luck!

I have had these feelings on and off but I felt much better reading posts on here and knowing that all this is normal. In fact, I just had another episode of "should I really do this" about 1/2 hr ago...I was getting grouchy from being hungry on the pre-op...but I read your post and then sp70's response and I feel better. Also self paid, deposit done.

only you know if you are doing the right thing

if you want to get healthy and lose weight and adhere to eating better and exercising and let the band help you, then heck yeah you are doing right.. second guessing seems natural...will i , wont i , what if this, what is that...but remember what if you do and you are an amazing success and then its all worth it. YOU are worth it.......i say go for it......and when/if you do, do it the right way, head on and no excuses. you got this. if you want it. best of luck to you

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
