Thursday night I looked down and noticed that my port site was bleeding ALOT!! I have had surgeries in the past so I had gauze and tape do I taped it and said if it hadn't stopped I would seek advice in the morning. Friday Morning I was still bleeding so I went to the ER. They did a CT scan and blood work. She saw an infiltration in my port site, but she just bandaged me up and sent me home. I had a follow up with my surgeon Friday or so I thought, because when I called to see if they could move me up since I was bleeding they started my appt was actually for next Wednesday. Luckily they squeezed me in and the Dr advised that the port being a foreign object the body is sending blood to the site. He says it's fairly common and not a problem. He squeezed to make sure there was no pus or other infection (which the ER didn't do).
I've never heard of this before and I feel like I have the worst luck ever. It has me wondering what have I done to myself. I was banded May 30th and since then I have had quite a few setbacks. High fevers, bad white blood cell counts, and now this. All in a week's time. I'm sure it will get better I just needed to vent...
