Jogging vs. Walking on incline (treadmill)

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone! Banded 3/27 and at 22 lbs weight loss. Amping up my workouts (as well as focusing in calories) to amp up my progress. Been doing quick 20 minute jogs before work but one of my coworkers recoed longer incline walks for weight loss. Thoughts? Makes sense as I actually find it harder to walk on an incline than jog flat! However jogging just seems like more if a workout. Thoughts?

You should never jog completely flat on a treadmill say my trainer even a small incline helps you work harder , find for me personally I do better walking on an incline then running period, I usually do hill intervals and for me I lose weight and tone better

I don't do jogging, my knees will not allow it, but I always walk on the treadmill at an incline.

I can't go too fast, but I like to use the incline to burn more calories. Since it is a cardio workout, do you have a way to monitor your heart rate to keep it in the ideal range for your age?

Only thing with the incline is that the sides of left heel start to bother me after awhile--think I may have a few sore tendons from over doing it when I started.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
