Let me just start by saying that I was banded 2/6/13 and had my first stuck episode yesterday. Ugh, no fun!

Anyway - for lunch, around noon today, I had a really dry piece of chicken. Every since I have felt like it is just chilling there in my esophagus, ya know, just hanging out. It's different than what I experienced yesterday, as that stuff was coming back up. Has anyone else experienced this? Any suggestions for getting it to move along??

Maybe try some hot tea- that usually works for me. Hope you feel better soon!

Nope sorry question and answer period is over! ...Just kidding I used to say this to my kids because they used to constantly say : Mom I have a question, then not say anything else. All I can tell you is what my Nut used to tell me, think of the band as a funnel ( or inverted triangle) if something is stuck at the bottom and you add Water, tea, whatever, where does it have to go ?but UP and OUT. I know it's tough when it happens and it's uncomfortable, extremely at times. Remember chicken is easily overcooked and dry, sometimes marinading it first or adding gravy, lemon, oil/vinegar mix anything to put moisture back is going to help. But unfortunately, this is one of those things that is a "learned" lesson. For most we do what we can to avoid it from happening. To reiterate previous posts remember to chew, chew, chew

Good Luck, here's hoping things are going better for you.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
