Don't be nervous. I am being 100% honest when I say it is nothing compared to what I had expected. The pain is temporary so much good will come from this.

I have to go in for surgery Tuesday. So you don't think the pain is that severe? I'm afraid of not waking up but I'm also afraid of the pain.

~~~Stephanie
To me it feels also like the inside of my stomach above my belly button where the incisions were made is just badly bruised like from the inside so yes it hurts to cough it's uncomfortable but I've been taking my pain medicine that does help walking around also helps. It's a little bit of a struggle to get up out of the chair but I could definitely do it on my own and it's the day of surgery so I have great expectations that by tomorrow by Sunday even Monday I will feel 75% better and almost completely myself. I know exactly what you mean about being afraid of waking up I think everyone has that fear naturally. When I was in the operating room and the doctor or I should say the anesthesiologist said I'm putting in the medicine to make you go to sleep I actually started crying. But they held my hand and she rubbed it and told me everything was going to be okay, I think it was just a combination of all the emotions, just everything all at once, just hit me and it's completely normal. You will do wonderfully and I honestly feel like this is the best decision I've ever made.
      Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???
        As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
        Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!
      2. LadyVeteran1
        Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
      Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
