Went for a fill and walked out with the same amount...

Recommended Posts

I went for my second fill today. My paperwork said that I had 2cc's in my band but when the doctor emptied it, I had 6.25cc's!!!

He asked me why I was getting a fill when I have been losing weight and I told him I thought I needed one because I was still eating more then I should be (I would eat the proper amount of Protein then eat a bunch of salad or veggies until I was satisfied). I think it was more mental though, thinking that I needed a second fill because I thought I was only at 2cc's and how could I already be at the green zone after 1 fill?? I think it was all in my head. Well he emptied the 6.25cc's and bumped it up to 6.5cc's. Nope! The white stuff they make you drink would not go through at all!He had to empty it again and he put the 6.25 back in. Looks like I was at my green zone all along... Although now I am scared it might be too tight because of air bubbles. When I drink I feel like there is gas trapped under the Water. What happens if it is too tight? Will I know right away? I'm so nervous now that something is wrong!

Sounds GREAT to me! You have a doctor that fills with FLUORO. CONGRATS! You are losing weight, eating the right amount of protein....AND, you didn't mention HUNGER once in your post...YEA for you! The # of cc's really doesn't matter....it's what they do and how you feel that matters. What could possibly be wrong....look at your ticker! AMAZING. Best of luck for your continued success. :)

Wow, that is almost exactly what I posted a few days ago, after going in for a fourth fill! I also eat my Protein, and then add veggies or salad to fill up. I know I am doing more than the "cup" of food at a meal.

I am going for a fluoroscope as part of my follow up before going back in two months. The APRN said that will show where the band is at.

Don't worry about being too tight, yet. You're probably a little swollen from the emptying, filling, emptying and filling again. Give it a few days & see how you feel.

Congrats on the great work! I've only had one fill since surgery, and I'm doing great. I'm at 6.4 cc's, and also keep thinking that maybe I need a little more. I have no issues at all. I can drink Water like I did before the band, and I don't really have stuck episodes. I'm satisfied after my portioned food (although, sometimes I'll have an extra 2-3 bites), and I don't get hungry for a good 3 hours. I went for a fill last week, and the nurse said that I didn't need it.

I think it takes some time before we really know what the green zone is. Some of us get there quickly; maybe just one fill. Some, it takes more. We're all SO different. I keep thinking that I should suffer a bit; stuck, PBs, vomiting, etc., before I know that I hit the zone :P

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
