Many of us had no pre op diet and yours sounds a little odd? I've read here where some people went in for surgery and when the doc found that the liver was too large, they closed the patient up and cancelled the surgery for that day. I'd advise you to stick to the diet and stay away from carbs for the remaining 6 days to shrink that liver?

I have never heard of that diet but do know that some people need to shrink the liver before surgery. Are you British? just thinking that they might have different ideas on the pre-op diet. hugs and please follow your doctor advice.

Hiya yes I am British .. Yes I'm having just milk and yougart although I wasent told to do this by the actual surgeon just his side lady... Who also deals with finance and so on.. I'm having my op with the hospital group, but to be honest I've read sooo much stuff that I've scared myself to death :( xxxx

It is not a matter of him not operating on you, but it will be a matter of him cutting and closing and doing nothing if he can't maneuver around a fatty liver :( My surgeon almost gave up on the band, but gave it one more last try and was successful. Then came the fight with the insurance to cover the additional operating room and anesthesiologist time. Follow the diet and you should do fine. I knew I had a fatty liver long before surgery, and I feared it might have been an issue.

I thought you might be when I read some words that were spelled different from the good old USA. Hang in there it will get better. I think we all were a little scared before the surgery, please keep us informed on how you are doing. We all care, hugs

well the pre op is to prepare your insides for surgery

and like tmf said, we have read posts from people whose dr's wouldnt operate

because the pre op didnt make the liver nice and small..i couldnt bear waking up and the dr telling me he didnt give me the band for that reason and that was the main reason i disnt cheat...tooo scared..and not cheating made me strong mentally......in my opinion, cheating is only cheating yourself seems we cheated enough in our past to make us need wls.....what are you gonna do when when it really gets tough??.. (in my past, i turned to food and hence why i got obese)...

need to knuckle down and follow the best you can what your dr advises.

wishing you all the best

Do the best you can. No one is perfect.

I don't know of anyone that has had their surgery cancelled because they have not followed the pre-op diet to the letter.

I'm surprised that yogurt and milk are considered for a pre-op diet. I was on Optifast and it was fine.

I've been doing the milk and yogurt Pre op diet for 4 weeks now! Mainly to reduce my BMI and get it below 50 (was 57) as well as shrinking the liver! It's not been easy but I've got too much to lose (no pun intended) to cheat! Surgery was booked for 22/8/13 but has had to be re scheduled due to BMI still being 52! I'm determined to stick with it and do what ever it takes to have my wls. Watch this space.....???Š

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
