I am so excited and nervous...but ready! I have to be at the hospital at 6:30 am and it's 2 hours away from where I live...I hope I can sleep at least a little. I look forward to starting my new lifestyle. All the the success stories, advice and pictures that I've seen on here really inspire me! I can't wait to be my own success story! Wish me luck! :)

I just had LBS yesterday. Just remember baby steps, the first 24 hrs are pretty rough. Remember to bring a pillow for the ride home. Good Luck!

OMG!!!

Congratulations to you! I just went under the knife on Monday myself. For me, the first day was a breeze compared to the second day. I think maybe because by the second day, all the pain meds from the surgery itself had worn off.

So I took it really easy yesterday, but I think it's all downhill from here, because I felt much better today (day 3 post-op).

Compared to other surgeries I've had, LBS was a piece of cake.

So my surgery was on May 16th, now I'm two days out and still in quite a bit of pain/soreness. My doctor says that the second day is maximum swelling. Plus, she had repaired a small hiatal hernia (didn't even know I had), so that could be the reason for the excessive tightness I'm feeling. Not sure. I'm just super happy that the surgery is behind me now. :)

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
