I could have and maybe should have done this eight years ago but I just kept listening to others tell me not to take the easy way out... I'm done. I have put everything I am into losing this weight and keeping it off. I can lose most of it but it always comes back!!! Consult on June 5th. Sounds like I meet all the requirements with my insurance carrier, united healthcare military west. I hope it proceeds quickly and smoothly!!

I promise you won't be sorry... like you I would lose most of the weight and it would come back faster than I lost it... and I too thought for the longest time that WLS was "the easy way out".... I was wayyyy wrong on that... it is actually one of the hardest diets you will ever be on... the LB is only a tool ... you still have to work and make different eating choices and that... I think if you're like me the hardest part about it for you will be re-training your eye and brain that the smaller portions are actually large... I got mine April 8th and I am super happy after words even though I haven't dropped as much weight as I would have if I'd had the gastric bypass it's way better to get the LB cuz it's less invasive, shorter recovery, smaller scars and slow and steady is the best pace to have... I'm ready to be able to exercise again now but my surgeon got me waiting 6-8 weeks for that so for now it's just walking around and that is still making a huge difference. Good luck and I promise you won't regret it!!!! Do you know when your surgery date is yet?

There was a cancellation! Had my consult moved up to may 22!! I'm attending the seminar tomorrow. Requested my pcp records to be sent over to the surgeons office just in case he needs them for documentation of weight loss attempts. I'm 4'10.5. Currently weigh 193. I've been as high as 223 and as low as 143 over the past 19 years. I need to weigh myself with clothes. The sweet spot for me would be about 197. Getting excited!! Hope it doesn't take long to get my approval and a spot on the surgery schedule!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
