Why does band tighten around menstral cycle?

Recommended Posts

I notice I've had to get an unfill around my period or have hard time digesting meat.< /p>

well speaking from my own experience, i retain Water when i get my period. water retention and swelling will make the band tighter at certain times of the month. granted i didn't ever have to get unfilled. i didn't run myself that tight. i just had to be more careful about what i was eating during that time of the month.

I have learnt that I must be very careful around the time of my period as it definitely tightens. My nurse told me this is normal and to just to go back to mushy foods for a couple of days.

Yes, I also have to resort to Protein Shakes or soft foods anywhere from 3 to 5 days before my cycle starts; I don't go for an unfill

Think of the band as if it were a ring on your finger but it's a ring around your stomach, which is a muscle. If you retain Water from TOM, sodium, illness, it only stands to reason that your stomach will swell just like other parts of your body swell. So, the lining of your stomach will swell which makes the stoma a smaller hole.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
