EEK Advice please

OK so I probably shouldn't freak out, but...

My fist helping of cream Soup tasted so good I had a big bowl of it. I felt really full. To the point of being a bit uncomfortable for about 15 minutes. About 2 days later I was really hungry like before surgery and could eat/drink larger amounts than before. Did I stretch my pouch or worse? I didn't know there was a limit to how much we could drink. I thought liquid just went straight thru, even the slightly thicker liquids. Now I am at 2 weeks and full on mushies. I feel no restriction hardly at all. And I can eat a good cup of food or even a little more at a sitting? Is this too much? Please advise.

You're right...you shouldn't freak out!

If I'm reading you correctly, you're only 2 weeks post-op. You don't have any restriction in your band right now...the first 6-8 weeks is all about healing, not losing weight. There's no saline in your band, so it's totally normal that you'd be able to eat more food than you would if you had restriction.

I'm about 9 weeks post-op, and I had the same worries as you at first...why am I able to eat so much? It's all good...just remember that we're supposed to use this time to practice our new eating habits for when we do get our first fill and beyond. Just because we have no restriction doesn't mean we can (or should) revert back to bad habits.

You are right about the soup...it's liquid, so it'll pass through quickly (especially with no restriction). You shouldn't worry about your pouch stretching from that...unless you, like, slurped it all down at one time or something.

Just remember to take it slow when you eat and check in with yourself before you take another bite...do you really *need* it, or are you good for now?

I had no restriction 5 days after the operation and have had to make a conscious effort to stick to the diet and determine if I am REALLY hungry or just hungry out of boredom or habit. I don't get a fill for another 4 weeks so I'm using this time to make healthy new eating habits.

Having no restriction before getting fills is very normal. I remember telling my doctor at 3 months that I could eat a 6" sub w/no sweat. He wouldn't give me a fill because even though I could eat that, I was still losing weight. Got my first fill at 4 months and my first one didn't do squat either. The second one really made a difference.

Just hang in there, eat slow, chew, and yes, still be careful on the amount your eating.... practice eating smaller amounts so when you get your fills, you don't hurt yourself.

Hugs and Kisses

Molly, this is the hardest part, this where we actually have to be very careful of the amount of food we are eating because we have no fill to help us. Try to determine when your hungry; is it real or just head hunger. We are just starting out, it's all about learning how this band works and healing. Isn't it wonderful to have such a large "family" to draw on when we have concerns? They are there day or night, we newbies are soooo fortunate.

Thanks everyone

I will relax and work on eating small meals. If I am still hungry, like real hunger I can always have more in a little bit, after I am sure my pouch is empty.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
