They also gave me my next appointment which will be July 10- they said I would get a fill that day.

How are you doing today? I wonder if the fill is going to hurt? I am nervous about my 1st appointment, I don't go till 07/24, but I hope I get filled as I am starveling!!

Hi. Im just over a week out from surgery. I just got back from the Dr. It was basically a reassurance appointment. He said all the pain, gas, nausea etc that I am feeling is normal. (I knew that just nice to hear ;-) He took off my steri-strips. Yikes. Incisions look good and are healing nicely. I have been having the hardest time getting fluids down and the Protein is making me nauseas. He told me not to worry about the Protein right now. Just focus on staying hydrated. He said the protein will come in to play later when I begin eating solids. That made me feel so much better. I feel like a weight has been lifted. And on that note...I've lost 21lbs since surgery. Wow!

I hope everyone is doing well and feeling good!!

Hey Junnies I'm sorry I haven't replied to some of you that replied to my one post but I'm still tryin to figure out this posting business, I'm not computer savy but I will catch on eventually. It has taken me half hour to find june 2013 Bandsters this evening.this is my second post lol. I do not have a scale at home yet but I'm still doing liquids and will start Protein Shakes tomorrow.i really hope this works,I know it only works if I stick to the rules and I'm not really a rule breaker, But I'm afraid that after the novelty wears off i maybe tempted to test the boundaries. I guess I'm just scared of failing.Darn, why is it soo hard to be skinny?

Hey friends that are able to eat cream Soups with me this week! This has been my favorite "diet" cream of broccoli Soup recipe for a long time. Try it, and you'll love it! The original recipe doesn't have chickpeas, but I added them for a little Protein. I think if I made it again I would even add 2 cans.

Ingredients

Broccoli - Raw, 4 cup, chopped

Squash - Zucchini, includes skin, raw, 4 cup, chopped

Onions - Raw, 1 cup, chopped

Butter - Salted, 4 tbsp

Goya - Coconut Milk - Leche De Coco, 1 can (14 oz ea.)

Swanson - chicken broth - 99% Fat Free, 2 cup

Water - 1 cup

Goya - Chickpeas / Garbanzos (Canned), 1 can (1 4/5 cups ea.) including Water from can

Turmeric, cumin, hot sauce to taste

Calories Carbs Fat Protein Sodium Sugar

Per Serving: 141 12 10 5 254 3

In a Soup pot, sauté the onion and seasonings in the butter. Add the liquids, veggies, and chickpeas. Boil until the veggies are soft, then blend until smooth. This recipe makes about 12 one cup servings.

** you can use less butter obviously to cut the fat, but right now I'm willing to sacrifice for some taste finally :-)

How did he take the steri strips off? My doc said they would come off on their own, but when I try to pull a loose one it hurts! Did he just yank them? Or did he do something to loosen them? After taking off the gauze and that horrible plastic bandage, I'm not going through that pain again :-)

Hi solson,

He just slowly peeled them off. It didn't hurt at all!! I too was told they would just fall off on their own but he wanted to take them off since I was in for a follow up. I'm glad he did! They were getting very itchy where they had peeled up on their own. Haha! It feels a little strange without anything on them though ???

Hi all -

I've been MIA for a bit. This recovery has been harder than I thought. My follow up appt was supposed to be on Tuesday, but I had a concern about one of my incisions (the port) and so I went in today. Everything is fine. Phew. I'm also having trouble with nausea. I found out it's the pain meds. With so much going on - incisions, band, not eating, meds, I wasn't sure what was going on. Dr told me to switch to ibuprofen. Much happier with that. I'm dying to eat real food. After two weeks of a liquid diet, two MORE weeks of liquid is killing me. Thanks for the vent.....

Hello! I haven't posted anything for a while, but I'm glad to be back! I'm just a little over 3 weeks since I've had my surgery! I've lost 28 lbs and I'm so excited about it. I wanted to ask if anyone else has had issues with their immediate family or close friends nagging them about being on a diet before your first fill? My mother is constantly on me about what I can and can't eat( right now I can eat a normal diet, just no tough meats), has anyone else had this issue? How do I handle this and make her understand? Thanks!

Take a deep breathe and realize that your close family and friends love you and just want to help. Now with that being said, you made this decision and I am sure you are making good choices when it comes to what you should and shouldn't eat. I had the same problem with a family member and I basically said please stop. I explained to her that I wouldn't do something that could potentially hurt me or prolong my recovery or weight loss. I also told her that I appreciate the help, but I can do this on my own:) It is so hard when you have people nagging at you, most of the time it's genuinely them trying to help you, but it can be irritating. GREAT job on the weight loss!

Glad you're feeling better! I got so sick from the anesthesia, I didn't want to chance the pain meds. Now I'm glad I didn't. I'm with you on this liquid diet, at least we can have cream Soups now. I'm looking forward to next week. Mashed potatoes, rutabagas, butternut squash, pudding...

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
