advice counsel and wisdom

Well I have been sitting here and worrying and wondering about the LB for months now. I made my decision to have it and my husband asked me to wait until he had some contracts lined up (he owns his own business-but I work too). I did and he asked me to wait some more (he always worries about money). Finally, I said to him last night-just let me finance it and you can pay it off quickly when we get paid for the contracts.

I of course feel guilty spending money on myself.

Having said that-I need your ADVICE!

Did you finance and how was that?

I am travelling to Mexico (Monterrey)-anything that you all think I should Know about? (experienced traveler with a passport)

I really appreciate your help!

I was self-pay, so we took out an equity line on our house! We actually took out more than the amount of the surgery so we could do some stuff around here, and it is costing us around $200 or so per month. We are paying it off quicker than that (i started working, so my meager checks are going straight to that, slow but sure!!)

It IS worth it, YOU are worth it!!!

Good luck!

I truly beleive that the Lap band is saving my life, I have lost over half my weight and will, over time lose the rest. Before my surgery I was certain that I could have a massive haert attack any time so the cost of surgery and how to get the money was not an issue. If I live an extra 15 years it amounts to $1,000.00 a year, I was paying that for my fitness club membership so it was a no brainer.

If you need the surgery then get it done, if it's a money issue think of how much money a funeral costs.

Good luck

Home Equity Line of Credit here, too. Only we aren't paying it off very quickly. If I had a job, it would go towards that. It's a bit of guilty pressure, to be sure. It's worth it, mind you, but I don't like it hanging over my head especially since I need a new (used) van. Ours is soooo old, and the car payment on top of the Band payment....oh my. So we are in the midst of figuring out how to do all this without me going back to work. Hubby is building a spec house so we are hoping we get what we are asking and will be able to finagle from there.

Point is, it's a commitment but it's worth it. It's a pain, but worht it. It's pressure and guilt, but not for long. You get over it when you step on the scale, or climb a flight of stairs, or lose your pants while vacuuming...you get the idea! Good luck!!!!

Mine was done for $10,700 here in San Antonio. Paid for through student loans. If it meant I could get a better job, I think it should be considered an education expense.

I didn't finance (insurance covered it), but I would have if it was necessary. Getting banded is one of the most UN-selfish things you can do. It's not an easy decision, and it's hard work. You deserve it!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
