Sure you feel hungry. But then, you eat. I get hungry every four hours or so. And when I do, I eat. Now, this is most often not the case before you get the first fill. Most US doctors do not put in any fill until the patient has had six weeks to fully heal. During that time, we are on liquid diets which slowly progress to soft foods, then on to normal foods, and its very common to be hungry during that stage of the game. But, as I said, once you get the right restriction in your band, you will only be hungry when it's time to eat.

And the myth-ometer reads.....ten bajillion!

I'm hungry as much as I was before. The weight loss happens as a combination of:

1. I get full faster when I eat; and

2. I'm actually losing weight, and I don't want to sabotage myself by eating the crap I used to before, so I exercise a little more control. This is much easier to do when you actually see results.

I am not banded yet.

Here's a question for your veterans....

Do you actually NEVER feel hungry post-banding?

I had the band for three years and was REALLY hungry most of the time. A lot of that hunger was because I had trouble eating decent meals. But, no. The band did not make hunger disappear FOR ME.

The hunger does not go away. Even when I opened my eyes from surgery I wanted a cheese burger.

The band helps you control the amount you eat at one sitting if properly filled. You need to do the work inbetween (by not snacking on the wrong foods and exercise).

My hunger has been wholly different since banding. OF COURSE I get hungry...I'm human, after all. But now I can eat just a little and get satisfied for a couple of hours! Yesterday I was really busy at work and didn't get a chance to eat Breakfast, and at 10:30 my stomach was growling. I ate two little Baby Bell cheeses (50 calories each) and I wasn't hungry again until like 3:00. Now that's what I needed!

Photonut you are right about the hunger. I eat every 3 hours or so, I am a grazer not 3 meals aday. Which has helped alot. I cannot eat enough at a meal to last 5 or 6 hours. So eating often has help with not getting hungry and trying to overeat

Hunger is a signal your body is supposed to have. No surgery is supposed to take that away. I am hungry very much less often than I was preband, and eating a little something will take that away for a good few hours. The true battle is distiguishing HEAD hunger from REAL hunger. THAT takes some time and a good amount of work!

I was just banded on the 10th of April. Before I had the band I was hungry all of the time, even at night. Now I don't experience hunger very often.

I am eating approx. 3 times daily and when I want something, mostly mental, I have sugarfree pudding, it seems to satisfy my sweet craving.

I'm hungry alot, but just seem to eat less (most times) than pre-band. Yesterday though for example I was starving all day long and no matter what I ate I could not get full. At night my band was wide open and I ate a whole plate of Chinese food no problem. No today, I am so tight I almost PB's my breakfast (could only get down half of a small breakfast) and I haven't been hungry all morning. The band is really fickle. I haven't heard of anyone who doesn't get hungry "at all".

I sometimes forget to eat... That is how often I actually get hungry! :P I usually have a Protein Shake for breakfast, sometimes lunch too. Just because that is easiest for me where I work. When my stomach growls though, I eat. I am not physically as hungry as before. And I stay full for 5-6 hours normally, sometimes more.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
