Been regurgitating food lately. Had my 2nd fill on 3/25. Since then things r tough. Can't really eat a balanced, regular meal. My Dr is on vaca, so I talked to the on call. He said a lot of things that confused me. Like lb does not help with hunger, 1 cup of food is too much (1/2 is better), has no idea why my hair is falling out (suggested a mega red everyday). Here I thought I was doing good, eating one cup and waiting 4 hours between meals. And I'm hungry a lot, is it unreasonable to expect to be satisfied for at least 3 hours? Buy the way, I'm down 46lbs but nothing since the last fill. Suggestions, advise...

Are you sure you didn't possibly misunderstand? I ask because you got a ton of bad info.

The whole purpose of the Lap Band is to control hunger so I have no idea why that doctor would say that. In fact, the beauty of the band is the fact when you have adequate Fluid in your band not only are you satisfied on much less food but you can go much longer periods of time without hunger.

It is not at all unreasonable to expect to be satisfied for at least 3 hours. In fact, you should be satisfied longer than 3 hours. Most experts agree you should be able to go at least 4 hours without hunger. A lot of us (myself included) can go even longer than that.

As far as the regurgitating, is it possible you need to take smaller bites and chew more thoroughly? Many find once they have enough fluid in their band they need to take bites the size of a fingernail.

I'm so sorry the doctor you spoke to was so awful.

Best wishes.

Are you able to eat Soups? If you are taking small bites and chewing the food to mush, it's like eating Soup. Just takes a lot longer.

Regurgitating? You mean PBing or actually throwing up/hurling your food from your lower stomach? PB is OK as long as it's occasional but throwing up is taboo.

Your post is also so similar to so many who, in this early phase, cannot differentiate between true hunger eminating from your stomach VS. just head hunger/craving food?

Stop, listen to your band/stomach? I mean, really stop, and think about this feeling? Get in touch with your stomach. Is it hunger or craving? Are you really hungry?

As far as not losing since last fill? Are you eating around your band now that you're getting stuck and regurgitating?

I do chew well, but am doing more. I am definitely hungry when I go to eat, but yes I eat what I can when that does not go well. How much do u eat? One cup or a half? That being said, sometimes 1 cup is too much, I have had to learn when to stop.

I've never been one to measure my food. I try to keep the calories around 2000 a day at this time. Sort of in a maintenance mode right now. Waiting on the biking season to start here in Colorado.

Once the snow stops here, I'll go to about 1600/day and shoot for buring an extra 600/day in exercise. We're all different and for me, exercise is my key to losing weight.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
